Salute Our Soldiers: Welcoming Florida’s Military Population Home

The state of Florida has 21 military bases and more than 1.5 million veterans. These individuals and their families have sacrificed so much to protect our country, but even after years of hard work many cannot afford to purchase their own home. Recognizing this need, Florida Housing Finance Corporation launched the “Salute Our Soldiers” Military Housing Loan Program. This program provides first mortgage loans with little to no interest, coupled with down payment and closing cost assistance, to help military families establish an affordable path to homeownership in Florida.

MaineHousing:
Starting over by creating pathways to home ownership. A small program with a large impact.

Homeownership may seem like a far-off prospect for someone relying on a Housing Choice Voucher to pay their rent, however, with the help of our ReStart Program, we at MaineHousing have found it to be a prospect worth fighting for. With MaineHousing staff dedicated to helping tenants find jobs, resources, and the education they need to increase their financial security, the path to homeownership has become a successful goal for many within the program.
