Press Policies

NCSHA welcomes members of the press in support of a broader understanding of important affordable housing issues. To meet the informational and educational needs of its members, NCSHA follows these policies regarding press access to conferences and events.

  • A limited number of press credentials may be issued for NCSHA conferences and events. All requests must be approved in advance of the event by the Director of Marketing and Communications. Press registration is not available on site. Please email Lisa Bowman to request credentials.
  • Press credentials are granted to individuals who are on assignment for, or employees of, a media outlet appropriate to the coverage of affordable housing news. Name badges with these credentials must be visible and worn at all times during the event.
  • Press must hold their questions until after the session is completed so that NCSHA audience members are able to ask their questions.
  • Please contact NCSHA to make sure that the sessions you are interested in covering are open to the press. NCSHA reserves the right to close sessions to the press at any time.
  • Unless otherwise noted, during open meetings, speakers and panelists may be identified and quoted. However, reporters must first obtain permission to quote audience members who ask questions or comment during a meeting.
  • Members of the media must identify themselves as members of the press when speaking with attendees during informal conversations at meetings and mutually agree as to whether the conversation is to be used in a story.
  • NCSHA cannot guarantee that a speaker will be available to the press following his or her remarks.
  • While the majority of its program sessions are on the record, some meetings are for members-only in order to permit NCSHA to conduct its activities.
