Recognizes an HFA for a campaign designed to promote an agency event, including but not limited to a conference, community engagement activity, anniversary, groundbreaking, or dedication.

Judging Criteria

Communications entries will be judged on the degree to which they:

  • Are replicable
  • Engage targeted audiences
  • Achieve measurable results
  • Provide benefits that outweigh costs
  • Demonstrate effective use of resources
  • Achieve strategic objectives

California Housing Finance Agency:
Western States Housing Exchange

CalHFA led the design and education of the reimagined, expanded and renamed Western States Housing Exchange (West-Ex), which brought executive level representatives from various western states together for a two-day conference. Expert speakers and roundtable discussions facilitated an information exchange on best practices, advocacy, professional development, homelessness, ADUs, the economic forecast and more. A tour of two unique local affordable housing developments rounded out the event.

Idaho Housing and Finance Association:
โ€œWhat Makes a House a Homeโ€ Calendar Contest

It may be a small initiative, but our โ€œWhat Makes a House a Homeโ€ calendar contest has proven to have a strong impact for those involved. The annual contest is a scholarship opportunity created for children who live in income-based housing or who participate in housing programs throughout Idaho. It inspires them to be creative, confident and embrace their dreams of higher education after high school.

Iowa Finance Authority:
Strategic Evolution: Iowa's HousingIowa Conference Transforms into an Innovation Hub

This event ushered in a remarkable strategic shift in 2023, transitioning from a flagship learning and networking event into a strategic hub for housing innovation and yielded remarkable and enduring outcomes, extending far beyond the event's conclusion. This transformation broke all-time attendance and sponsorship records while also facilitating the allocation of millions of dollars to innovative housing initiatives presented at the event โ€“ propelling them forward in ways previously unimagined.

Kansas Housing Resources Corporation:
Celebrating 20 Years of Unlocking Home

KHRC celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2023, marking two decades of housing opportunities for Kansans. We highlighted the milestone with a series of initiatives and special events throughout the year, including distinctive branding, a commemorative video, a statewide youth art contest, and a celebratory reception. The effort raised our public profile, lifted up our mission, and provided opportunities for connection and engagement with our stakeholders, partners, and housing advocates.

Kentucky Housing Corporation:
19th Annual Lender Awards

The 19th annual Lender Awards was the culmination of Kentucky Housing Corporationโ€™s collective event planning and marketing efforts. It wove together a mix of information, lender recognition, lender marketing, programmatic marketing, storytelling, and annual reporting - and it yielded great results, including enhanced partnerships with lenders and real estate agents, increased social media traffic and awareness of KHC programs, and heightened publicity and business for partners.

Minnesota Housing:
Regional Press Campaign

Minnesota Housing launched a comprehensive media campaign, prioritizing earned media to raise awareness about affordable housing. The campaign targeted Greater Minnesota through virtual and in-person events, engaging local media and communities. Despite minimal cost, the impact was significant with increased web traffic, social media engagement and earned media in all regions. Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan's involvement added credibility, emphasizing the importance of safe housing for all Minnesotans.

Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency:
50th Anniversary Celebrations

The year 2023 marked PHFAโ€™s 50th anniversary. To celebrate this significant milestone, an emphasis was placed on using a mix of events and promotions to educate a variety of audiences about the work done by the agency and our significant housing accomplishments. Following our promotional campaign, we used our celebrations as a marketing tool to strengthen our brand significantly with our business and legislative partners, and the public, in ways that will benefit the agency moving forward.

Tennessee Housing Development Agency:
People, Places and Progress: Celebrating 50 Years of THDA

THDA developed a strategic, 10-month plan to celebrate the agencyโ€™s 50th anniversary with the objective to increase awareness of the agencyโ€™s work. THDAโ€™s campaign theme of โ€œPeople, Places and Progressโ€ provided the opportunity for the agency to highlight key partnerships in a variety of different communities across Tennessee to best illustrate the broad scope of the agencyโ€™s efforts to improve housing across the state.

Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority:
Infrastructure Access Loan Launch Event

The Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA) received $525 million from state leaders to offer four new funding products to advance housing. WHEDA promoted its Infrastructure Access Loan program, the most recent product to launch, with a livestream celebration that brought together stakeholders from across the state to learn more about the funding opportunity and generate a sales pipeline for the internal Community and Economic Development Team (CED).
