Communications entries will be judged on the degree to which they:

  • Are replicable
  • Engage targeted audiences
  • Achieve measurable results
  • Provide benefits that outweigh costs
  • Demonstrate effective use of resources
  • Achieve strategic objectives

Arizona Department of Housing:
Arizona Department of Housing's "2018 Housing At-a-Glance" Report

The Arizona Department of Housing produces an annual Housing At-a-glance report which is a professionally designed and printed document that provides a summary view of the Arizona housing market with an online appendices where readers can dive deeper into the data. The report has proved to be an extremely beneficial document in educating key stakeholders and serves as a ā€œone-stopā€œ source document about housing conditions throughout the state, both in print and online.

California Housing Finance Agency:
Continued Commitment to Rigor and Accessibility in Annual Reports

CalHFA has continued to do the extra work required for recognition from the Government Finance Officers Association by meeting the standards for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report and Popular Annual Financial Report.

Idaho Housing and Finance Association:

Our annual ā€œState of Homelessness in Idahoā€ report is the first and only comprehensive analysis of the issue in Idaho. The report and associated outreach give state legislators, civic leaders, local government officials, and the public a credible tool to help inform their policy decisions. This resource helps explain the complex, troubling problem of homelessness. It helps show what is working ā€“ and what is not ā€“ in our stateā€™s coordinated response to homelessness.

IHDA lets the results speak for themselves, allowing readers to hear directly from Illinois residents as they highlight IHDA's mission in their own words.

Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority:
2018 Annual Report: Celebrating 40 Years of Empowering Hoosiers

The Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority's 2018 Annual Report had three primary objectives: (1) To acknowledge and celebrate our 40th Anniversary, (2) to successfully tie the work of our more than 30 programs to the three areas of our mission, and (3) to effectively reach our primary and secondary audiences. Through the creation of an internal work group and polling our primary and secondary audiences we saw a 42.8% increase in visitors in our Annual Report.

MassHousing:
MassHousingā€™s 2018 Annual Report

MassHousing is always adapting, evolving and changing. In 2018, MassHousing was under a new leadership team and to signal this new time for the Agency, the visual direction of the annual report was distinctly different. Whether itā€™s a mixed-use, mixed-income waterfront building in a borough in search of redevelopment or seniors on tight incomes who have found new homes in a historic hospital adapted for reuse, the report illustrates NJHMFAā€™s very busy 2018 for key audiences such as New Jersey legislators, local officials and residents.

Housing Drives North Carolina is an interactive online microsite, along with a companion print report, that visually illustrates all facets of how 2018 affordable housing investments in NC are driving stability and success. With an engaging ā€œdrive throughā€ experience, this platform demonstrates how affordable housing investments boost results far beyond just homes and apartments and provides an interaction with users that is continuing to generate buzz and better connect our target audience.

Oklahoma Housing Finance Agency:
Making a Difference - 2018 Annual Report

Each year, Oklahoma Housing Finance Agency issues an annual report that details the prior year's accomplishments. For us, housing means more than bricks and sticks. This annual report features four video and written testimonials that detail how OHFA is "Making a Difference" in the lives of Oklahomans.

Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency:
Changing Lives, Growing Communities

Recognizing that today's audiences are reading less, we sought to create an annual report that used minimal text to share our message about the past year's successes. The report is highly visual and invites reader interaction. What text is provided communicates simply and in everyday language. Through the use of many images, attractive graphic design, a modern color scheme and careful writing, this annual report proceeds under the assumption that less is more. The result is better engagement.

Rhode Island Housing:
"Invest. Build. Believe." 2018 Annual Report

We began 2019 with the launch of a new logo and visual identity. As part of the agency ā€œrebrand,ā€ we were firmly committed to telling our story differently, to messaging how we didnā€™t just have a new look, rather, we were a ā€˜newā€™ agency. Our new online annual report maximizes online capabilities to expand the reach of our report, create and present highly visual and interactive visuals and infographics, connect to our social media and tell our story to a broader audience.

Washington State Housing Finance Commission:

In 2018, the Washington State Housing Finance Commission sought to sustain a theme of hope and aspiration. At a time when housing news is grim across our state, we wanted to emphasize how weā€™ve brought hope to the lives of families by ā€œerasingā€ the negative add-ons to words like ā€œaccomplished,ā€ ā€œprotectedā€ and ā€œsuccessful.ā€
