Principles of Governance and Ethics for HFA Board Members
State HFA board members have governance responsibilities for organizations of considerable complexity and critical importance to their residents of their states. This session will provide grounding in concepts and practices that make any HFA board stronger.

Introduction to HFA Single-Family Financing
State HFAs issue Mortgage Revenue Bonds and Mortgage-Backed Securities to fund their homeownership programs. This session will summarize their mechanics, key market and policy issues, and the essential role of down payment assistance.

Introduction to HFA Multifamily Financing
State HFAs issue Multifamily Housing Bonds and allocate federal Low Income Housing Tax Credits to finance the development and rehabilitation of affordable rental apartments in their states. This session will describe how these tools work and current economic, legislative, and regulatory issues.

Overview of Key HFA Financial Terms and Concepts
State HFA board members have governance responsibilities for agencies that utilize multiple forms of capital and operate in challenging regulatory environments. This session will define key financial concepts on which HFA balance sheet stability, mission advancement, and business success rest.

Benchmarking HFAs
State HFA board members often want to know how their agency compares to others in various aspects of program and performance. This session will familiarize board members with NCSHA tools and resources and other industry-leading sources of comparative state HFA information.
