Connecticut Housing Finance Authority | Creation of Primex Team

CHFA’s Lean program has evolved from a focus on large process improvements efforts addressed through Kaizen events to a focus on short-term projects that provide a significant impact in enhancing core- competencies for the business. The new initiative called “PRIMEX” (which stands for Process Improvement Experts) is steered by a cross-functional team who actively seeks input from staff members and fosters interdepartmental engagement through process improvement efforts.

Colorado Housing and Finance Authority | Real Life. Real Fun. – Compliance and Ethics in Action

In 2019, CHFA’s Compliance Department made mandatory training fun, with the Ethics and Compliance Campaign: “Real Life. Real Fun.” The campaign consisted of interactive games played throughout the year: a photo contest, a crossword puzzle, a coloring book, and an interactive art show. These games gave staff an opportunity to get hands-on, think creatively, and have some fun. Each game had a "real life" element to help staff understand the roles compliance and ethics play in their work life.

Wyoming Community Development Authority | WCDA Succession Plan

Vermont Housing Finance Agency | Vermont Housing Fellow Program

The Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA) recognizes the many benefits of having a diverse staff. Yet recruiting new talent can be a challenge. In response, VHFA launched the Vermont Housing Fellow Program in an effort to bring underrepresented groups into the affordable housing industry. The program brings graduate students to VHFA for a semester-long, paid position, helping VHFA complete important tasks while providing the students with valuable professional development opportunities.

Rhode Island Housing | Supporting Our Team While Fulfilling Our Mission

As the COVID-19 health crisis impacted companies across the globe, this HFA successfully transitioned to remote work. Our Human Resources team’s ability to quickly develop a comprehensive engagement and communication effort helped inform and support staff, kept them safe, and provided the tools and resources needed to succeed in their jobs.

Minnesota Housing | The Daily

The Minnesota Housing's Communications Team has sent all-staff emails every weekday since telework was initiated on March 16. The Daily features Commissioner Ho and guests. The Daily is an opportunity for agency leaders to speak directly to all staff on a daily basis, explaining new Executive Orders and how they relate to Minnesota Housing staff, and delivering morale-boosting messages recognizing how hard this new telework environment is on so many.

Kentucky Housing Corporation | Wow Wheel Wednesdays

After a nearly decade-long restructuring, including massive cuts, the threat of a pension overhaul, several changes in leadership and a shift in corporate culture, Kentucky Housing Corporation's morale was at an all-time low. A task force of staff “influencers” formed to devise ways to engage staff and excite them about coming to work.

Idaho Housing and Finance Association | Making the Best Impression – Impactful On-Boarding

On-boarding new hires in a thoughtful, professional, and phased approach sets the tone for what they think about having said "yes" to joining your company. Beyond words, it shows them how much employees are valued and sets the tone for their future engagement and fulfillment with their job. At IHFA, we have high employee engagement and low turnover and the on-boarding process sets that tone early in one's career.

Washington State Housing Finance Commission | Microsoft Partnership: Stretching Our Resources

While exploring bond recycling, we forged a productive collaboration with Washington’s own Microsoft Corporation that both filled a critical need for bridge financing and helped the company deploy its capital for affordable workforce housing. Microsoft is also joining the Housing Finance Commission and other corporate partners in innovative financing efforts to build still more housing in our state’s highest-cost, tightest housing markets.
