Agency Recognizes Partners Who Promote Affordable Homeownership
North Dakota Housing Finance Agency (NDHFA) recently recognized nine of its partners with Champion of Affordable Housing Awards for their outstanding promotion and delivery of its homeownership programs. “Homeownership is traditionally one of the most coveted goals of individuals and families,” said NDHFA Executive Director Dave Flohr. “Through our Champion Awards, North Dakota Housing Finance Agency honors the housing professionals who partner with the agency, promote our programs, and help to make homeownership affordable.”
Congress Passes Continuing Resolution to Keep Government Running Until March 11
On February 17, the Senate passed a continuing resolution (CR) funding the federal government through March 11, giving Congress more time to finalize Fiscal Year 2022 appropriations bills.
WHEDA and CSH Welcome Teams for the Inaugural Wisconsin Supportive Housing Institute
The Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA) and CSH announced that seven teams will participate in the inaugural 2022 Wisconsin Supportive Housing Institute. The teams include diverse professionals from across the state. All groups will create a plan to develop affordable housing with access to supportive services for individuals experiencing homelessness.
Governor Murphy Announces Foreclosure Prevention Funding to Support New Jersey Communities and Residents
Today, Governor Phil Murphy announced that $10 million in funding from the federal American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA) will be allocated to support New Jersey’s Foreclosure Prevention Act (P.L. 2021, c.34) program administered by the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency (NJHMFA). NJHMFA will use these funds to stabilize communities through supportive homeowner interventions and vacancy rehabilitation and sale, stemming the loss of single-family homes to rental property investment firms.
MaineHousing Welcomes Frank O’Hara as New Chairman
MaineHousing Tuesday welcomed four new members to its Board of Commissioners including newly appointed board chairman Frank O’Hara. Appointed by Gov. Janet Mills and confirmed by the Maine State Senate O’Hara takes the gavel from outgoing Chair Lincoln P. Merrill, Jr. O'Hara has been an independent public policy consultant since 1987.
Digital Equity & Inclusion Funding Applications Now Being Accepted
The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) is administering two separate Digital Equity & Inclusion grant opportunities with a total funding of $7 million. One application is for digital inclusion initiatives and the other is for community/gap networks. Connected Communities Grant Program: This grant program is designed to assist local community based organizations, non-profits, and anchor institutions in creating Gap Networks and Community Networks. Those networks are designed to address the affordability challenge many low to moderate income household’s face in subscribing to the internet.

Governor Whitmer Launches Program for Michigan Homeowners Experiencing Hardships
Governor Gretchen Whitmer and the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) launched a new program today to aid homeowners with additional financial support to help Michiganders pay their bills and stay in their homes. The Michigan Homeowner Assistance Fund (MIHAF) uses federal resources allocated under the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 to provide financial assistance to homeowners who have fallen behind on homeownership-related expenses.

MassHousing has closed on $34.8 million in affordable housing financing to Beacon Communities LLC to refinance, renovate and preserve housing affordability at the 192-unit Woodlands at Abington Station in Abington. “Thanks to this refinancing transaction, the Woodlands at Abington Station will continue to be an important housing resource for nearly 200 Abington households, who live steps from the town’s commuter rail station and close to many amenities,” said MassHousing Executive Director Chrystal Kornegay.

Public Notice to Qualified Homebuyers Kentucky Housing Corporation 2022 Mortgage Credit Certificate Program
The Kentucky Housing Corporation ("KHC") proposes to implement a program (the "Program") to provide Mortgage Credit Certificates ("MCCs") to residents of the Commonwealth of Kentucky (the "Commonwealth") who purchase new or existing residences within the Commonwealth. An MCC reduces the amount of income tax a qualified homeowner pays by providing a non-refundable, federal tax credit during the life of a mortgage loan. After all other credits and deductions are taken into account, the value of the MCC is applied directly to a homeowner's remaining tax liability.
New Strategy to Reduce and End Homelessness Moves Forward with Hub Contracts
Today, MaineHousing announced a new state-wide strategy to address homelessness. The state is implementing a scalable approach that has proven necessary and catalytic to helping many cities and counties make progress in ending homelessness. In the initial stage of this process contracts for nine Service Hub Coordinators have been awarded to local partners across the state.
