Gene Slater

Gene is the chairman of CSG Advisors, which has been the leading housing financial advisor in the nation for each of the last 20 years. He helped initiate the design with US Treasury of what became the New Issue Bond Program, served as the Resolution Trust Corporation’s national financial advisor for all tax-exempt assets, and has been HUD’s national consultant on many programs and advised major national foundations of initiatives for maintaining mixed-income, mixed-race communities. He has served as senior financial advisor to 15 state housing finance agencies and currently represents Colorado, MassHousing, Minnesota, Montana and SONYMA, among others. Gene’s focus has been on linking programs and finances and on risk-based capital strategies for HFAs to improve their financial sustainability.

He has a Masters in City Planning from MIT, a BA summa cum laude from Columbia, and received a mid-career Loeb Fellowship from Harvard where he studied capital markets for housing at the business school and created Harvard and MIT’s first joint seminars on financing public-private partnerships.
