Yolanda McCutchen

McCutchen serves as the Director of Public Relations at the DC Housing Finance Agency (DCHFA).  She is responsible for all internal and external communications including social media management, advertising and marketing. In 2018, Ms. McCutchen’s work at the DCHFA was honored with two Marcom Awards, Platinum in the Media Relations/Publicity/Media Response category and Gold for DCHFA’s Fiscal Year 2018 annual report in the Design/Print category.

Prior to joining DCHFA, McCutchen was an independent media consultant specializing in social media management, media relations, communications strategy and media training.

For two years, McCutchen was an Assistant Professor, in the Department of Media, Journalism and Film at Howard University.  In 2014, she was a newsroom fellow at The Washington Post.  Before her tenure at Howard, Ms. McCutchen taught public relations and journalism courses in the Department of Mass Communications at Claflin University.

McCutchen began her career as a journalist at NBC News’ Washington, D.C. bureau where she worked for Dateline NBC and field produced stories for Nightly News, MSNBC and Today. Ms. McCutchen’s journalistic work has been honored with an Emmy nomination, the Edward R. Murrow, Clarion, Gracie and National Headliner awards.

McCutchen holds a B.A. in Mass Media Arts (Broadcast Journalism) from Hampton University and an M.A. in Journalism and Public Affairs (News Media Studies) from American University.
