LHC, LA BOSCOC Provide Assistance to Individuals Experiencing Homelessness

BATON ROUGE, LA (February 15, 2020) – The Louisiana Housing Corporation (LHC) has partnered with Louisiana’s regional Continuums of Care (CoCs) and local service providers to protect individuals and families experiencing homelessness throughout the current cold weather event.

Each region of Louisiana has a network of agencies that provide services, including day shelters, overnight shelters, warm clothes, and hot meals. In addition to regular services, LHC is providing resources to many agencies that greatly expand shelter capacity for the duration of the cold weather event.

LHC encourages any person who needs assistance to contact their local shelter, even if they have been unable to find a bed in the past.

Shelter beds and other resources are available to:

  • People sleeping unsheltered on the streets, in their car, or another location outside;
  • Individuals fleeing domestic violence, including human trafficking;
  • Any other person who doesn’t know where they will sleep tonight.

To access your local services, visit https://laboscoc.org/housing-and-services, select your parish from the map or list, and call or visit any of the listed agencies
