Emergency Housing Assistance
Americans are falling behind on their monthly mortgage and rent payments. Temporary protections to keep them stably housed, including the CDC’s eviction moratorium, will end soon. Billions in past due payments will be due in full soon — imposing punishing financial hardships on millions in a matter of months.
The nation’s state housing finance agencies are leading on the response to this fast-moving crisis. The agencies are standing up emergency housing assistance programs across the country with the resources they have available. They are supporting research and analysis on the scope of the coming disaster. And they are pressing Congress and the White House to provide additional emergency aid for struggling homeowners and renters.
