Overview

Thank you to our panelists and everyone who participated!

On December 13, NCSHA will convene industry and thought leaders, researchers, and advocates to explore the various and shifting facets of what artificial intelligence means, and could mean, for affordable housing.

Artificial intelligence has been hailed for its potential to empower lower-income consumers with more information about affordable housing options, improve transparency and efficiency in financing, and drive cost savings in design and construction that could lead to more affordable homes and apartments.

AI has also been criticized for its potential to worsen racial bias in the housing market, undermine consumer protections, and unfairly inflate housing costs. Even the term artificial intelligence and its uses to date in housing have been subject to debate.

Speakers and panel discussions will illuminate:

  1. AI as a resource for lower-income households
  2. AI as a tool for increasing the supply of affordable housing
  3. The state of play on AI and housing in federal and state policy
  4. Operational considerations for state HFAs and their partners
