Senate LIHTC Financing Enabling Long-term Investment in Neighborhood Excellence (LIFELINE) Act of 2022

This legislation, S.4181, introduced on May 11 by Senators Patrick Leahy (D-VT) and Susan Collins (R-ME), would allow state, local, territorial, and tribal governments to use Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds to make long-term loans to Housing Credit developments.

In April 2022, Senator Chris Coons (D-DE) circulated to his Senate colleagues this sign-on letter requesting support from the Senate Committee on Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies to increase funding for the HOME Investment Partnerships program (HOME) to at least $2.1 billion for fiscal year 2023.

Dear Colleague Letter: House LIFELINE Act, H.R. 7078

This “Dear Colleague” letter, circulated by Representatives Alma Adams (D-NC) and David Rouzer (R-NC), encourages members of the House of Representatives to cosponsor the bipartisan LIHTC Financing Enabling Long-Term Investment in Neighborhood Excellence (LIFELINE) Act, H.R. 7078, which Adams and Rouzer introduced on March 15. NCSHA has endorsed the legislation.

This February 28 letter urges congressional leaders to amend the underlying statute of the Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund to facilitate its use with the Housing Credit.

This November 19, 2021, letter sent by NCSHA and fellow steering committee members of the Campaign for Housing and Community Development Funding (CHCDF) urges Congress to enact fiscal year 2022 appropriations bills as soon as possible and outlines the devastating impacts on affordable housing and community development programs when multiple, or lengthy, continuing resolutions are in place.
