Get “Money Smart” with Homebuyer Education
Money Smart Week® is March 30 through April 6 and promotes free financial education events offered statewide for Colorado consumers. Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) is sponsoring several homebuyer education classes during Money Smart Week offered by members of CHFA’s homebuyer education partner network. Classes and events are available at no charge and are open to the public.

President Directs Treasury and HUD to Develop Housing Finance Reform Plans
President Trump earlier today issued a memorandum ordering relevant federal agencies to develop proposals for reforming various aspects of the housing finance system. Specifically, the executive memorandum directs Treasury to develop a plan for removing the government-sponsored enterprises (GSEs) Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac from conservatorship and HUD to suggest changes to the housing finance programs supported through the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) and Ginnie Mae.

RIHousing honored its top-producing lender and realtor partners at its annual Spring Homebuying Breakfast hosted for 350 industry members. Working with 41 lender partners and hundreds of realtors throughout Rhode Island, the corporation helped over 2,100 Rhode Islanders purchase a home in 2018. The Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA) has allocated $554,974 in affordable federal housing tax credits to help finance the St. Anthony Apartments near downtown Milwaukee. A grand opening ceremony was held today at the new development. The adaptive re-use development has transformed a vacant five-story building that historically was St. Anthony’s Hospital, and more recently the Milwaukee County Correctional Center, into 60, one-bedroom and efficiency units of high-quality housing with onsite supportive services.
