NCSHA Opportunity Zone Fund Directory Expands to 63 Funds, Nearly $16 Billion in Investment

NCSHA released an updated edition of its Opportunity Zone Fund Directory today, including details on 63 Qualified Opportunity Funds (QOFs) formed to attract Opportunity Zone investment in designated high-poverty neighborhoods. The directoryโ€™s latest edition includes 11 new QOFs and details on each fundโ€™s management, organization, size, investment focus, and geographic focus.

Governor Larry Hogan Announces Maryland Opportunity Zone Expansion

Governor Larry Hogan today announced a series of initiatives and legislation to further expand the thriving Maryland Opportunity Zone program. A total of $56.5 million will be dedicated to attracting new businesses and development and continuing to invest in Maryland's workforce. The governor made the announcement at Walbrook Mill - a 41,000 square-foot active construction site located in a designated Opportunity Zone in Baltimore City, and future home of 140 apartments and townhomes, retail and commercial space, warehouse, and light industrial usage on North Avenue.

Statewide Homeless Count to be Conducted in January

On Jan. 22, 2019, South Dakota Housing for the Homeless Consortium (SDHHC), an affiliate of South Dakota Housing Development Authority (SDHDA), will conduct its annual statewide Point-In-Time (PIT) homeless count. The Point-In-Time homeless count is a critical source of annual data on homeless persons and families, providing characteristics of people who are experiencing homelessness. Data from the annual PIT homeless count is used to measure homelessness on local, state, and national levels.

Florida Housing Approves Millions in Financing for Construction of Workforce Housing in Monroe County

The Florida Housing Finance Corporation (Florida Housing) Board of Directors approved the awarding of financing for the construction of two workforce housing developments in Monroe County during the board meeting heldย  in December. Florida Housing issued invitations to credit underwriting last week to the approved applicants.ย 

Additional Funding Available for the Development of Affordable Housing

South Dakota Housing Development Authority (SDHDA) announces approximately $3.6 million available for the February application cycle. Funding consists of the HOME Investment Partnerships, Housing Trust Fund, and Neighborhood Stabilization programs. Funding can be utilized to assist communities in addressing their local housing needs.ย

Like It Forward: CHFA Donates $2,650 to Care and Share Food Bank for Southern Colorado

Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) was pleased to donate $2,650 to Care and Share Food Bank for Southern Colorado, 501(c)3 nonprofit that provides food to over 270 partner hunger-relief agencies across 31 counties in southern Colorado. The donation was the result of a three-week long social media campaign CHFA promoted called โ€œLike It Forward.โ€

FHFA Publishes Modified Fannie Mae Duty-to-Serve Plan

The Federal Housing Finance Agency earlier today published Fannie Maeโ€™s modified Underserved Market Plan for 2018-2020. Fannie Mae pledges in the new plan to substantially increase its Housing Credit equity investments for properties located in rural areas over the three-year period.

FHFA Releases 2019 Scorecard for GSEs

Earlier today, the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) released the 2019 Scorecard for Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and Common Securitization Solutions (CSS). The scorecard outlines the steps FHFA expects each of the firms to undertake next year to fulfill FHFAโ€™s Strategic Plan for Enterprise Conservatorship, which was first published in 2014.

NJHMFA Celebrates Grand Opening of Rehabilitated Affordable Apartments for Families in Essex County

New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency (NJHMFA) executive staff joined local officials and developer CB Cubed, LLC today to mark the completion of a major renovation of the Berkeley Terrace Apartments, a 152-unit affordable rental complex for families. The complex, located on Berkeley Terrace and Grove Street in Irvington, consists of one- to three-bedroom units in two-story, brick buildings.

FHA Announces Increased Single-Family Loan Limits for 2019

Late last week, the Federal Housing Administration (FHA)ย announced the county loan limits for its single-family mortgage programs for 2019 and issued a Mortgagee Letter that increases the minimum loan limit for low-price areas and the maximum loan limit for high-cost areas.
