FHFA Report Requests New Authorities; Urges Congress to Pass GSE Reform

The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) earlier today requested that Congress grant it the authority to charter new government-sponsored mortgage guarantors to compete with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The proposal was included in FHFAโ€™s 2018 Report to Congress, which summarizes FHFAโ€™s 2018 examinations of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and the Federal Home Loan Banks.

Ribbon Cutting Marks Opening of Historic New Jersey Bell Building Restoration in Newark

State and local officials, including New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency (NJHMFA) Executive Director Charles A. Richman, today celebrated a ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the opening of Walker House, which involved the transformation of the historic New Jersey Bell building into a mixed-use, mixed-income development. The restoration provides 264 apartments, including 53 which are affordable for families earning between 40 and 50 percent of the area median income as well as office and ground-floor retail space.

Applications for Federal Reverse Mortgage Assistance Program Ends This Month

The deadline to accept applications for Floridaโ€™s federal Elderly Mortgage Assistance Program (ELMORE) is June 30, 2019. Under the leadership of Executive Director Trey Price, Florida Housing Finance Corporation (Florida Housing) has disbursed 100 percent of the funds for Floridaโ€™s Hardest-Hit Fund (HHF) ahead of schedule. Originally scheduled to end in 2020, qualified homeowners who are seniors in Florida may continue to apply for assistance through ELMORE until June 30, 2019.

Iowa Finance Authority Awards Siouxland Habitat for Humanity $50,000 for the Construction of Home in Orange City

The Iowa Finance Authority Board of Directors recently awarded a $50,000 State Housing Trust Fund grant to Siouxland Habitat for Humanity to assist in the construction of a home in Orange City. The funding is made available through the State Housing Trust Fundโ€™s Project-Based Housing program. The program provides financing for the development of affordable single-family and multifamily housing units.

DCHFA Kicks-off Homeownership Month with the Lenderโ€™s Fair and Homebuyer Incentives

June is National Homeownership Month and DCHFA is launching into the celebration on June 1st โ€˜by hosting the Lender โ€™s Fair.
