The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced on September 11 the third and final round of allocation of the $5 billion Congress provided in the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act in supplemental Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding (CDBG-CV).

Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development Announces Fiscal Year 2021 Application Round for State Revitalization Programs
The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development is announcing the Fiscal Year 2021 application round for three State Revitalization Programs - ย Community Legacy, Strategic Demolition Fund - Statewide (all non-Baltimore City) and the Baltimore Regional Neighborhood Initiative. These programs offer funding to support local housing, community and economic development, and other revitalization projects. They are part of the department's commitment to helping the state's local governments and nonprofit agencies achieve their community revitalization and economic development goals.
HUD Publishes CARES Act Guidance for Emergency Solutions Grants
On September 1, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) published a Notice announcing the allocation formula, amounts, and program requirements for the $3.96 billion in supplemental Emergency Solutions Grants (ESG) Program funding Congress provided in the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act to help states and localities respond to the coronavirus pandemic (ESG-CV). The Notice also extends the waivers and flexibilities provided for ESG-CV funds to annual ESG funds for prior fiscal years so that grantees may use annual ESG resources as part of their coronavirus response.
Hogan Administration Opens Application Period for $16 Million in Maryland Eviction Prevention Partnership Grants
Governor Larry Hogan today announced that Maryland's 24 local jurisdictions can begin applying for $16 million in Maryland Eviction Prevention Partnership grants, which will help support local rental assistance programs across the state.ย "Maryland was one of the first states in the nation to implement a moratorium on evictions for tenants affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, and we have backed that up with targeted relief programs," said Governor Hogan. "These grants will help ensure more of our citizens can remain safe and secure in their homes."
PHFA Accepting Bids for Purchase of Mixed-Use Development Tax Credits
The Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency announced today that it is accepting bids for the purchase of $3 million in Mixed-Use Development Tax Credits. The funds collected from successful bidders will be used for the construction or rehabilitation of mixed-use developments in Pennsylvania communities.ย The deadline for bids is 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 30. These tax credits will be used by the winning bidders โ which can be companies, organizations or individuals โ to reduce their state tax liability.
