On July 9, 2021, NCSHA sent this letter to Senate Banking Committee Chairman Sherrod Brown (D-OH) and Ranking Member Pat Toomey (R-PA) urging them to support the nomination of Julia Gordon to be HUD's Assistant Secretary for Housing-Federal Housing Commissioner.

Joint Letter to Treasury on Emergency Rental Assistance Reporting Guidelines

NCSHA, along with other major national organizations representing grantees—the Council of State Community Development Agencies, National American Indian Housing Council, National Association of Counties, and National League of Cities—sent this letter to Treasury providing comments on the reporting guidelines for the Emergency Rental Assistance program.

Accelerating the Utilization of Emergency Rental Assistance: NCSHA Recommendations

NCSHA Statement for FHFA Listening Session on Closing the Gap to Sustainable Homeownership

On June 29, 2021, NCSHA’s Garth Rieman delivered this statement at the Federal Housing Finance Agency’s public listening session on “Closing the Gap to Sustainable Homeownership.” The statement recommends several actions FHFA, Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac could take to increase homeownership among people of color.

NCSHA Comments on Housing Trust Fund Final Rule

On June 25, 2021, NCSHA submitted these comments to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development on its Housing Trust Fund Interim Final Rule. NCSHA’s comments recommend changes in the rule to provide HTF administering entities more flexibility.

Letter to Administration on Flexibilities Needed for Rapid Deployment of Assistance to Tenants to Prevent Evictions

NCSHA, along with other major national organizations representing grantees and advocates—the American Public Human Services Association, Council of State Community Development Agencies, National American Indian Housing Council, National League of Cities, and National Low Income Housing Coalition—sent this letter to the Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and White House Senior Advisor Gene Sperling asking the Administration to provide flexibilities to help grantees assist households that face eviction upon the expiration of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s eviction moratorium order.

ACTION Campaign Letter Urging Congressional Leaders to Support the AHCIA of 2021

The ACTION Campaign, which NCSHA co-chairs with Enterprise Community Partners, sent this letter, signed by 2,421 organizations from across the nation, to House and Senate leaders urging them to support the passage of the Affordable Housing Credit Improvement Act (AHCIA) of 2021.

NCSHA Comments on Treasury and IRS 2021-2022 Priority Guidance Plan

On May 28, 2021, NCSHA provided these comments to the Department of the Treasury and Internal Revenue Service on guidance projects the agencies should include in their 2021-2022 Priority Guidance Plan. The annual Priority Guidance Plan sets forth the tax issues Treasury and IRS intend to address through regulations, revenue rulings, revenue procedures, notices, and other published administrative guidance.
