Governor Hochul Announces Construction Underway On $39 Million Affordable and Supportive Housing Development as Part of $1.4 Billion Vital Brooklyn Initiative

Governor Hochul today announced the start of construction on a $39 million affordable and supportive housing development as part of the State's $1.4 billion Vital Brooklyn Initiative. Located in Bedford Stuyvesant, The Hart will include 57 sustainable and permanently affordable apartments with 38 supportive homes for chronically homeless seniors and families. In addition, The Hart will be home to a mental health outpatient program and a new primary care center to be operated by One Brooklyn Health.

California Housing Finance Agency Reporting Wins Fourth Consecutive Award for Excellence

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada has once again awarded its highest forms of recognition to the California Housing Finance Agency (CalHFA). For the fourth consecutive year, CalHFA earned a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its 2019-2020 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report and Popular Annual Financial Report, which give detailed accountings of CalHFA's financial position for both financial professionals and the layperson.

TDHCA Launches Texas Homeowner Assistance Fund

The Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) announced today the Texas Homeowner Assistance Fund (TXHAF) is now available for qualified homeowners who need help with past due mortgage payments and related expenses due to financial hardships associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. Eligible households could receive up to $40,000 for past due mortgage payment assistance, and up to $25,000 to pay past due property taxes, property insurance, and delinquent homeowner association (HOA) and/or condo association fees.

Housing Agency Awarded Grant to Support Counseling Programs

North Dakota Housing Finance Agency (NDHFA) has been awarded a $72,840 housing counseling grant by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The agency will split the grant between two affiliate organizations ā€“ Community Action Opportunities of Minot and Southeastern North Dakota Community Action Agency of Fargo.

FHFA Announces Largest Allocation Yet to Housing Trust Fund and Capital Magnet Fund

Today, Federal Housing Finance Agency Acting Director Sandra L. Thompson announced the Housing Trust Fund (HTF) and the Capital Magnet Fund (CMF) will receive a total of $1.138 billion for affordable housing initiatives from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (the Enterprises). HTF will receive $740 million, an increase of $29 million from the previous year, and CMF will receive $398 million, an increase of $15 million from the previous year. These are the largest amounts ever provided to these programs from the Enterprises.
