PHFA Recognizes Stateโs Housing Counselors for Helping Consumers
PHFA recognized the work of the stateโs private sector housing counselors today during an event at the Harrisburg Hilton. These counselors help PHFA achieve its housing mission by assisting state residents with questions about homeownership, home foreclosure, budgeting and their personal credit score so they can make better informed housing decisions. Most recently, some counseling agencies have also started providing money management education, as well.
Kim Herman Inducted into National Affordable Housing Hall of Fame
Today, Kim Herman, executive director of the Washington State Housing Finance Commission, will be inducted into the national Affordable Housing Hall of Fame. The recognition by Affordable Housing Finance magazine will be presented today in a ceremony at the Affordable Housing Developers Summit in Chicago, Ill. Each year, AHF honors four leaders who have made a notable difference in the lives of low-income Americans.
Iowa Finance Authority Awards $2.7 Million to Build Permanent Supportive Housing for Addiction Recovery Center in Dubuque
The Iowa Finance Authority Board of Directors recently awarded $2.7 million to nonprofit Manasseh House/Operation Empower to fund the construction of Liberty Recovery Community, an addiction recovery center with permanent supportive housing in Dubuque. The funding was made available through the National Housing Trust Fund program.
Iowa Finance Authority Awards City of Garner $360,000 For Workforce Housing
The Iowa Finance Authority Board of Directors today approved a $360,000 low-interest loan to the City of Garner for the construction of twelve new workforce rental townhomes. The award was made through the Workforce Housing Loan program, which provides financial assistance in the form of low-cost repayable loans to cities and counties.
Iowa Finance Authority Awards $100,000 to Support Creation of Mobile Disaster Response Team
The Iowa Finance Authority Board of Directors today awarded $100,000 to Habitat for Humanity of Iowa to support the creation of a new statewide mobile disaster response team. The teamโs efforts will first be focused on assisting with home damage caused by the July 19, 2018 tornado in Marshalltown.
