Murphy Administration Announces Collaboration with University Hospital in Newark Under NJHMFAโ€™s Hospital Partnership Subsidy Program

The Murphy Administration today announced a new collaboration between University Hospital in Newark and L+M Development Partners, Type A Projects, and MSquared under the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agencyโ€™s (NJHMFA) groundbreaking Hospital Partnership Subsidy Program, through which leading hospitals partner with experienced residential developers to provide vital affordable and supportive housing -- including homes for frequent users of emergency services -- in their host communities.ย 

Governor Hogan Announces $192.9 Million in Additional Emergency Rental Assistance Awards to Local Jurisdictions

Governor Larry Hogan today announced an additional $192.9 million in funding has been awarded to local governments and service providers through the Emergency Rental Assistance Program. These federal funds will support local Maryland Eviction Prevention Partnership initiatives that assist tenants whose ability to pay rent has been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The governor also announced that the DHCD will reopen its Assisted Housing Relief Program, which provides rental assistance to tenants in properties financed by the department.

It is currently a sellerโ€™s market in many South Dakota communities, as low inventory is causing housing prices to skyrocket. However, interest rates remain at an all-time low, making it a great time to buy for many.

Texas Rent Relief Program Provides Over $100 Million in Assistance, Helps Tenants and Landlords Avoid Eviction

Today the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) announced it has already distributed more than $100 million in rental and utility assistance to Texans in need. TDHCA is administering a $1.3 billion grant in emergency federal relief funds from the U.S. Department of the Treasury to help income-eligible Texans struggling to keep up with rent and utility payments during the pandemic. Renters get assistance with up to 12 months of rental assistance including back rent and up to three months of future rent, as well as utility assistance.

Technical College System of Georgia and Georgia Department of Community Affairs to Implement $8.367 Million Grant in Southwest Georgia

The Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) has been selected by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) to administer the Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) Workforce Development Program. The grant will utilize $8.367 million of the $41.837 million allocation from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) awarded to Georgia in response to Hurricane Michael (2018). This partnership marks the advent of a four-year program to support Georgians by supplying residents of communities impacted by the disaster with the necessary skills and job readiness to increase their household income.

WHEDA Seeks Projects for National Housing Trust Funds

The Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority is seeking applications for a total of $1.3 million in National Housing Trust Fund financing targeting housing projects for people with extremely low incomes. Eligible projects include those that received 2020 or 2021 federal 9% or federal and state 4% housing tax credits. Federal 4% projects will be eligible to apply so long as WHEDA is in receipt of a Housing Tax Credit Application.

National Housing Trust Fund Award to Pa. Increases 148% from 2020

Pennsylvania will receive $24.1 million in national Housing Trust Fund dollars this year, representing a 148% increase compared with its 2020 funding amount of $9.7 million. This is according to an announcement by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, which distributes HTF funding. Only six states received more HTF financial support for 2021. Pennsylvania has the fourth greatest percentage increase in HTF funding among the 50 states. The total amount included in the 2021 national HTF disbursement is nearly $700 million, which is the largest annual allocation ever provided since the fund was created in 2008.

CHFA Announces 2021 Round One Housing Tax Credit Awards

Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) is pleased to announce 13 developments will be awarded a reservation of federal Housing Tax Credits to support the new construction of 882 affordable apartments. These developments will seek to address various housing needs in Colorado, including those of veterans, formerly homeless individuals and families, and older adults. CHFA received 25 applications for federal 9 percent Housing Tax Credits in its first allocation round of the year.

Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development Announces Fiscal Year 2022 Application Round for State Revitalization Programs

The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development today announced the Fiscal Year 2022 application round for five State Revitalization Programs will open on May 17. These programs offer funding to support local housing, community and economic development and other revitalization projects. They are part of the departmentโ€™s commitment to helping the stateโ€™s local governments and nonprofit agencies achieve their community revitalization and economic development goals.
