Virginia Housing Announces $500,000 Grant to Fund 3D Home-Building Printer

Virginia Housing today announced a $500,000 Innovation Demonstration grant to the Virginia Center for Housing Research at Virginia Tech to secure a 3D modular construction printer to print the concrete walls on the first 3D-printed home for sale in Virginia. Alquist, a 3D printing construction firm, will be working directly with the VCHR to print the homeโ€™s exterior walls.

Governor Hogan Announces $25 Million Initiative to Revitalize Downtowns and Main Streets

Governor Larry Hogan today announced the launch of Project Restore, a $25 million economic recovery initiative that will provide financial incentives for small businesses and commercial developers to revitalize vacant retail and commercial space. The governor made the announcement in downtown Berlin during a five-day tour of the Eastern Shore. โ€œProject Restore will help put more โ€˜open for businessโ€™ signs in storefront windows, create thousands of jobs, and transform neighborhoods and communities,โ€ said Governor Hogan.

MassHousing Closes Approximately $19 Million in Financing for the Second Phase of the Transformative Enterprise Center in Downtown Brockton โ€ฏ

MassHousing has closed on approximately $19 million in affordable and workforce housing financing to Trinity Financial, Inc., which is developing the 111-unit Phase Two of the Enterprise Center in Downtown Brockton for residents with a wide range of incomes. The MassHousing financing will allow Trinity Financial to complete the redevelopment of the Enterprise Block and deliver a total of 224 new rental homes to Brocktonโ€™s downtown. The projectโ€™s first phase opened in 2015.ย ย 

Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development Issues First Sustainability Bonds in Agencyโ€™s History

Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development Secretary Kenneth C. Holt announced the issuance of the first ever โ€˜Sustainability Bondsโ€™ to be sold by the department. The departmentโ€™s bond-issuing entity, the Community Development Administration, issued approximately $13.6 million in Sustainability Bonds; proceeds of the bond sale will support energy efficient affordable housing in Frederick County.

RIHousingโ€™s Board of Commissioners approved the Spring 2021 Michael S. Van Leesten Memorial Awards at its June meeting. ย The awards program honors the life and work of Michael S. Van Leesten, a longtime advocate dedicated to improving the lives of Rhode Islanders through his business leadership, civil rights activism, and public service. The awards program supports students from diverse backgrounds who are pursuing academic fields or careers related to the housing industry. ย 

Governor Hogan Announces $10 Million in Relief for Live Entertainment Venues

Governor Larry Hogan today announced the recipients of 65 awards totaling $10 million for live music and performance venues and live entertainment promoters affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. This relief funding is in addition to theย $30 million allocated earlier this yearย to music and entertainment venues as part of the State of Marylandโ€™s economic recovery plan. โ€œAs we continue to move forward in our recovery, I am proud to announce more support for these entertainment businesses and venues as part of our Maryland Strong Economic Recovery Initiative,โ€ said Governor Hogan.
