WHEDA Set to Announce $35 Million in 2021 Housing Tax Awards
To continue addressing the shortage of affordable and workforce housing statewide, the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority will announce the award of some $35 million in federal and state housing tax credits awards on Tuesday, April 27 at 11 a.m. Statewide demand for housing tax credits among developers seeking to build more affordable rental housing for workers, families and seniors continues to outpace the federal and state resources available in Wisconsin and the award process is highly competitive.
SDHDA Seeking Applicants for the 2021 Emergency Solutions Grants Program
South Dakota Housing Development Authority (SDHDA) is seeking applicants for the Emergency Solutions Grants Program. The Emergency Solutions Grants Program (ESG) is a federal block grant authorized by the McKinney Vento Homelessness Assistance Act and is funded by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development. The ESG program provides financing for short-term and medium-term rental assistance and services to stabilize and rapidly re-house individuals and households who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
Maryland Mortgage Program Recognizes Top Lender and Realtor Partners
The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development today announced the top performing lender and realtor partners of the Maryland Mortgage Program during a virtual awards event. The department recognized industry partners for their exemplary performance and celebrated the continued partnership of these housing industry professionals despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. For the second year in a row, the Maryland Mortgage Program surpassed $1 billion in loan reservations.

Construction Is Underway at Bartlett Station in Roxbury, Where 60 New Affordable Apartment Homes Will Conclude the First Phase of the Bartlett Yard Redevelopment
Construction has commenced on 60 new, mixed-income apartment homes at Bartlett Station in Roxbury, which will conclude the first phase of the five-phase redevelopment of the former MBTA Bartlett Bus Yard in Nubian Square. The 60 new apartments currently being constructed at Bartlett Station Building A will join a 60-unit, mixed-income rental apartment building and a 16-unit condominium building that were completed on the site in August 2019.ย
CHFA Offers New Refi Loan and Relaunches Its Purchase Program for Mobile Manufactured Homes
The Connecticut Housing Finance Authority (CHFA) has addedย a refinance loan program for owners of mobile manufactured homes (MMH) and has relaunched its MMH purchase loan program. The homes must be the borrowersโ primary residence, and located in a year-round, state-licensed mobile home park. โMMHs are an affordable option for low- and moderate-income buyers just starting out and for homeowners who are downsizing,โ said Nandini Natarajan, CHFAโs Chief Executive Officer โ Executive Director.
State to Open Wait List for Housing Choice Voucher Program
The Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) announced applications for the Housing Choice Voucher Program will be open from April 22-26. Formerly known as Section 8, this HUD-funded program assists low-income families, the elderly, and disabled individuals to afford decent, safe, and sanitary housing. David Whisnant, DCAโs Division Director for Housing Assistance, said the waitlist has been closed since May 2018 in order to accommodate the approved applicants. ย
Governor Wolf Announces $2.2 Million for Community Revitalization
Governor Tom Wolf today announced that five projects will be awarded $2.2 million for the construction or rehabilitation of mixed-used developments. The funding was raised through the sale of tax credits under the Mixed-Use Development Tax Credit Program, the proceeds of which are being used to fund the work of the Community Revitalization Fund Program.ย โWe believe there is pent up economic demand coming out of the pandemic, and these mixed-use developments can be a part of our economic recovery,โ said Governor Tom Wolf.
Governor Hogan Proclaims National Community Development Week in Maryland
Governor Larry Hogan today proclaimed the week of April 5-9, 2021 as National Community Development Week in the State of Maryland to celebrate federal redevelopment resources and their positive impact on Maryland's communities. Three federal programs - the Community Development Block Grant, the Emergency Solutions Grants Program, and the HOME Investment Partnerships Program - are administered by the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development. To mark the occasion, Governor Hogan also announced the premiere of a new video which highlights a successful project in Cecilton (Cecil County) with significant federal and state funding.
