Governor Pritzker Announces Applications Now Open for Nearly $300 Million in Additional COVID-19 Emergency Assistance for Illinois Renters and Landlords

Building on Illinoisā€™ COVID-19 support response for Illinois renters and landlords, the Illinois Housing Development Authority announced that applications are now open for the second round of the Illinois Rental Payment (ILRPP) program, which Governor Pritzker announced on October 27. The reopening of ILRPP will provide an additional $297 million to renters and landlords in an effort to prevent evictions and keep families safe and secure while they regain their financial footing.

Iowa Finance Authority Awards More Than $9 Million to Local Housing Trust Funds to Advance Housing Priorities

The Iowa Finance Authority Board of Directors today announced the award of a total of more than $9 million in grants to 27 Local Housing Trust Funds to support local housing initiatives. The grant awards are made available through the Local Housing Trust Fund program and are expected to assist more than 2,100 families. ā€œThe 2022 Local Housing Trust Fund awards represent the largest amount allocated through the program for local housing initiatives since the programā€™s inception,ā€ said Iowa Finance Authority Executive Director Debi Durham.

Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development Announces $178.1 Million in Emergency Rental Assistance Funding Provided for Tenants and Landlords Affected By COVID-19 Pandemic

The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development today announced the Emergency Rental Assistance Program has approved $178.1 million to assist nearly 28,000 renter households affected by the COVID-19 pandemic as of October 31. This effort exceeds the U.S. Treasury spending goals for the program, and ensures that remaining program funds will stay in Maryland and continue to help tenants and landlords in need.

New Hampshire Housing Names Robert Dapice as Executive Director/CEO

After an extensive national search, the New Hampshire Housing Board of Directors has named Robert (Rob) Dapice as Executive Director/CEO of the organization, as of January 1, 2022. Dapice will succeed Dean Christon, a well-respected and nationally recognized affordable housing advocate and leader who will retire December 31, 2021 after 34 years of service with New Hampshire Housing.Ā 

MaineHousing Announces Old Orchard Beach Affordable Housing Ground Breaking for Milliken

The Szanton Company, a Portland-based housing developer, broke ground today on a major affordable housing development that will create an influx of new year-round housing for Old Orchard Beach residents who areĀ  55 or older. The Milliken Heights development, at 38 Portland Avenue will add a 55-unit apartment building that includes 42 units for households earning below 60 percent of the area median income. The other 13 units will be rented at market rent.

MassHousing Closes on $9 Million in Financing for the Development of Phase I of the Woodland Cove Affordable Rental Housing Community in Warehamā€Æ

MassHousing has closed on $9 million in financing to Dakota Partners, Inc., to support the development of Phase I of the Woodland Cove affordable rental housing community in Wareham.Ā Dakota Partners is developing the eight-acre site in three phases and Phase I will involve the construction of 63 new rental homes, including seven workforce housing units. Overall, the three-phase development will result in 150 new apartments at Woodland Cove.Ā 

State to Release Results of First Housing Study in Nearly Three Decades

A year-long comprehensiveĀ statewide housing needs assessmentā€”the first of its kind undertaken in 27 yearsā€”is nearing completion, and Kansans are invited to learn about preliminary findings in a series of regional community meetings. The study identifies current housing needs and growth opportunities, including goals to guide the stateā€™s future housing development efforts. ā€œFor too long, Kansas has operated without a strategic focus to guide our housing investment, hindering our stateā€™s economic development,ā€ said Ryan Vincent, Executive Director of Kansas Housing Resources Corporation.

MassHousing Closes on $35.3 Million in Financing for the Refinancing and Major Renovation of the 78-Unit Bancroft Dixwell Apartments in Bostonā€Æ

MassHousing has closed on $35.3 million in affordable housing financing to Urban Edge for the refinancing and extensive renovation of the 78-unit Bancroft Dixwell Apartments in Roxbury and Jamaica Plain.ā€ÆUrban Edge will utilize the funding to make substantial renovations to the properties, investing approximately $17 million in property upgrades. As part of the transaction, Urban Edge is merging the 45-unit Bancroft Apartments, and the 33-unit Dixwell Apartments,Ā  in Roxbury and Jamaica Plain, into one scattered-site entity.Ā Ā
