MSHDA Awarded Largest-Ever Housing Counseling Grant
The Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) today announced it is receiving a $1.087 million housing counseling grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The funds will be distributed to 24 HUD-approved housing counseling agencies across Michigan to support their critical work to stem the tide of the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on housing, maintain housing stability by helping families with foreclosure and rental eviction prevention, and give residents tools to make informed housing choices.
NC Homeowner Assistance Fund Opens Statewide
The NC Homeowner Assistance Fund is now accepting applications from North Carolina homeowners whose finances were impacted by the pandemic and who need assistance with housing-related expenses. Established through the 2021 American Rescue Plan to prevent mortgage delinquencies, defaults, displacements and foreclosures for homeowners experiencing financial difficulties due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Fund offers assistance of up to $40,000 for qualified homeowners as long as funding is available.
IHCDA Seeks Volunteers to Count Hoosiers Experiencing Homelessness
The Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) and partner agencies across the state are seeking volunteers to conduct a one-night count of the homeless population.
PHFA Announces Launch of $350 Million PA Homeowner Assistance Fund February 1
Relief is coming for eligible homeowners in the Commonwealth who are struggling with their mortgage payments or other housing expenses as a result of COVID-19 pandemic-related financial hardships. The Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency (PHFA) announced today that February 1 will mark the statewide launch of the Pennsylvania Homeowner Assistance Fund, or PAHAF, administered by PHFA.

Pritzker Administration Awards $55 Million to Improve Housing Accessibility and Stability for Vulnerable Residents
The Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA) Board announced the conditional award of more than $55.7 million in state and federal resources that will finance the creation or preservation of permanent supportive housing across the state. Awarded under Round VIII of IHDA’s Permanent Supportive Housing Development Program, the awards will support the construction and rehabilitation of 10 developments containing 259 units of affordable housing for persons at risk of homelessness, residents with physical challenges or mental health needs, and other vulnerable populations.
Louisiana Housing Corporation Announces Nationwide Search for Executive Director
The Louisiana Housing Corporation (LHC) Board of Directors is pleased to announce that they have authorized a nationwide search for their next permanent Executive Director. The purpose of the LHC is to substantially increase the availability of affordable, accessible, and safe residential housing in Louisiana, and the Executive Director is responsible for directing all administrative, financial, and programmatic activities of the organization.
Demand for State and Federal Housing Tax Credits Continues to Outpace Allocations
Statewide demand for housing tax credits among developers seeking to build affordable housing rental units for workers, families, and seniors continues to outpace the federal and state resources available in Wisconsin. For the 2022 tax credit award cycle, the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA), received applications for 49 housing projects in 37 communities seeking over $49 million in federal and state housing tax credits to create 2,952 rental units with 2,685 designated as affordable.
More Than $12 Million Awarded for Affordable Housing Units, Including Innovative Projects in Kenton and Jefferson Counties
Kentucky Housing Corporation (KHC) awarded more than $12 million in Low Income Housing Tax Credits (Housing Credits) and other program resources last week, providing communities throughout Kentucky more affordable housing options. “This year, Kentucky Housing Corporation celebrates its 50th anniversary of providing affordable housing solutions to Kentuckians,” said Winston Miller, KHC executive director and chief executive officer.
Murphy-Oliver Administration Announces New Program for Struggling Homeowners
Governor Philip D. Murphy and Lt. Governor Sheila Y. Oliver today announced the upcoming launch of the Emergency Rescue Mortgage Assistance Program (ERMA), administered by the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency (NJHMFA). This program will provide up to $35,000 in assistance to cover mortgage arrearages, delinquent property taxes, and other housing cost delinquencies for eligible homeowners negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
