LHC Opens the Doors to Newly Rehabilitated Single-Family Household Units in Shreveport

Shreveport, LA — The Louisiana Housing Corporation (LHC) celebrated the newly reconstructed single-family homes of the Eden Gardens Community located in Shreveport, LA. The Eden Gardens Community is centrally located just minutes away from Downtown Shreveport with access to a direct bus line. This community provides safe, clean, and efficient affordable housing options to 76 families.

Offering 76 units, Eden Gardens South will offer multiple-bedroom options for families and individuals. The renovated community will offer recreational amenities such as a basketball court and a playground. 30% of the units are reserved for single-parent families.

LHC supported this development via an $800K award of Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) and $3.2M in HOME funds. “The support provided by LHC funds offers crucial financial assistance to housing developers to buy, build, or rehabilitate affordable housing options,” said LHC Executive Director of Governmental Affairs Jarvis Lewis. “Eden Gardens is a shining example of what true partnership looks like when developing affordable, safe, and efficient housing options in communities across our state.”

“Today, we celebrate the transformation of Eden Gardens—a vision realized through commitment and collaboration,” said Developer Edward Taylor. “This substantial rehabilitation project not only enhances the standard of this housing community but also reinforces our dedication to creating comfortable, efficient, and connected living spaces for our residents. Eden Gardens is a community reborn, ready to welcome families and individuals seeking a place to call home.”

The developer for this project is Edward Taylor, the architecture is done by Concordia, the builder and contracting work is done by Pine-Stone I, LLC, and the Management Company is Fairfield Property Management.

ABOUT LHC
The purpose of the LHC is to substantially increase the availability of affordable, accessible, and safe residential housing in Louisiana. The LHC was created in 2011 when the Louisiana Legislature merged the Louisiana Housing Finance Agency with housing programs from other state agencies to streamline how the state would address its housing needs, avoid duplication of efforts, and improve service to the general public. The LHC administers federal and state funds through programs designed to advance the development of energy-efficient and affordable housing for low- and moderate-income families, drives housing policy for Louisiana, and oversees the state’s Disaster Housing Task Force.
