Program Description

A new program established to provide financial relief for renters who have experienced a loss of income resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. Tenants in eviction proceedings will be offered legal representation.

Eligibility Criteria

โ€ข Household income must be at or below 100 percent of AMI.
โ€ข Landlords must forgive late fees and up to 10% of the back rent.
โ€ข Must have notice to quit or eviction notice.

Administration StructureThe Michigan State Housing Development Authority will be administering this program through its network of nonprofit homeless service providers.

Maximum Assistance Available Per Household

โ€ข Households earning 50 percent or less of the AMI are eligible for 90% of rental arrearage payment up to $3,500 and up to $1,200 for one-month next monthโ€™s rent
โ€ข Households earning between 50 and 80 percent of AMI are eligible for up to 75% of rental arrearage up to $3,000.
โ€ข Households earning between 80 and 100 percent of AMI are eligible for 65% rental arrearage payments up to $3,000.
