DCHFA Names Nikol Nabors-Jackson Chief of Staff

DCHFA has a new Chief of Staff, Nikol Nabors-Jackson, a human services and affordable housing professional with more than 20 years of government and non-profit experience. DCHFAโ€™s Executive Director/CEO Christopher E. Donald made the appointment this summer, โ€œNikol is a proven leader who has operated across the human services and housing sectors.

HUD Extends COVID-Related HOME Waivers and Extensions

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) on Wednesday posted a memorandum that extends and revises several suspensions and waivers of HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) regulations HUD previously issued in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. HUD originally published the waivers and program rule suspensions in April 2020 and updated the information in a memo issued in December 2020 that extended the waivers and exemptions through September 2021. NCSHA urged HUD to extend these exemptions and waivers in response to needs caused by the ongoing pandemic.

WHEDA Announces Awards for Innovation Housing Tax Credits

The Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA) today announced 9% federal housing tax awards for its 2021 Innovation Housing Tax Credit program. Woodside Prairie, a 32-unit supportive housing development in Grafton and The Shield, a 44-unit supportive housing development in Madison, will each receive a tax credit award of $800,000.

Treasury Issues Preliminary Information About Reallocation of Emergency Rental Assistance

On September 24, Treasury Department Deputy Secretary Adewale O. Adeyemo sent a letter to Emergency Rental Assistance (ERA) program grantees providing preliminary information on how the department will conduct the statutorily required reallocation of ERA funding provided under the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021 (ERA 1). Congress requires Treasury, beginning September 30, 2021, to reallocate granteesโ€™ unobligated funds that it determines to be โ€œexcessโ€ to other ERA 1 grantees who have obligated at least 65 percent of their funds.

Iowa Finance Authority Awards Habitat for Humanity Affiliates $100,000 to Support Construction of Three Homes in Hawarden and Waterloo

The Iowa Finance Authority Board of Directors recently awarded a total of $100,000 in State Housing Trust Fund grants to Habitat for Humanity affiliates to support the construction of homes in Hawarden and Waterloo. ND Continuum of Care Awarded Grant to Prevent and End Youth Homelessness

MassHousing Closes on $31.4 Million for the Refinancing and Extension of Affordability at the 219-Unit Franklin Park Apartments in Boston

MassHousing has closed on $31.4 million in affordable housing financing to The Community Builders, Inc. (TCB) for the refinancing and extension of affordability at the 219-unit Franklin Park Apartments in Boston. TCB will extend rental assistance affordability protections for 155 of the 219 units at Franklin Park Apartments by an additional 29 years and will also complete approximately $1.5 million in property improvements at the 15-building housing community, which is located on 12 scattered sites in Dorchester and Roxbury. โ€ฏโ€ฏย
