NCSHA Recognizes State Housing Finance Agencies for Affordable Housing Innovation

Published on September 27, 2021

WASHINGTON, DC — On September 27, the National Council of State Housing Agencies (NCSHA) recognized state housing finance agencies (HFAs) for programs and practices that effectively address the affordable housing community’s toughest challenges.

“This year’s awards program shows state HFAs around the country innovating to meet the most pressing challenges facing their states and the country: deepening housing instability for low-income renters, worsening shortages of new affordable homes, widening racial wealth and opportunity gaps, and more frequent and severe natural disasters,” said NCSHA Executive Director Stockton Williams.

Established in 1984, NCSHA’s Annual Awards for Program Excellence identify and elevate industry best practices and encourage continued HFA innovation. Member HFAs are eligible to submit initiatives for consideration in seven categories: Communications, Homeownership, Legislative Advocacy, Management Innovation, Rental Housing, Special Achievement, and Special Needs Housing. In 2021, 33 HFAs submitted entries in this program.

The following state housing finance agencies were honored during NCSHA’s 50th Annual Conference, which is being attended virtually this week by more than 1,100 HFA executive directors, staff, board members, and their industry partners. All the nominated programs can be found at ncsha.org/awards.
