CalHFA Board Member Appointments

The California Housing Finance Agency is pleased to welcome Maria Cabildo to the CalHFA Board of Directors. Cabildo was appointed by Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon. Ms. Cabildo is the Director of Housing and Economic Opportunity at the California Community Foundation. She is responsible for the foundation's discretionary grantmaking activities, Program Related Investment (PRI) program, community engagement, and convening activities related to its housing and economic opportunity program areas.

Elected Officials, Development Partners and Community Members Celebrate Groundbreaking in South Providence

Delaware State Housing Authority Grants $2.5 Million To Strengthen Statewide Partnerships For Its DEHAP Program

Delaware State Housing Authority (DSHA) has awarded $2.5 million in Community Navigation Program grants to 15 community partner organizations throughout the state. Each organization will have dedicated staff who will aid Delawareans seeking rent or utility assistance due to financial hardships caused by the pandemic.ย 

Senator Gay and Delaware State Housing Authority Secure ARPA Funding to Create Rent Reporting Pilot Program

Sen. Kyle Evans Gay, in partnership with the Delaware State Housing Authority (DSHA), secured $200,000 in American Rescue Plan Act funding this month for an innovative pilot program that will help low-income renters in Delaware build credit. The Tenant Rent-Reporting Pilot Program will subsidize the cost of reporting rent payments to the major credit bureaus for low-income tenants and housing assistance recipients in Delaware, allowing those families to use their rent payments to build their credit history.

Maryland Emergency Education Relief Grant Program Notice of Funding Availability

The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) through the Office of Statewide Broadband (OSB) is administering funding for the Maryland Emergency Education Relief Grant Program (MEER). The MEER grant program is designed to provide relief to K-12 students and related school staff to close the gap for students who lack necessary internet access or the devices they need to connect to classrooms. Eligible applicants are Schools, Libraries, and Anchor Institutions.

Kansas Housing Launches Mortgage Relief Program

Today, Kansas Housing Resources Corporation (KHRC) launched theย Kansas Homeowner Assistance Fund (KHAF), providing mortgage and utility assistance to Kansas households impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. โ€œSince the beginning of the pandemic, weโ€™ve provided more thanย $190 millionย in assistance to keep Kansans stably housed and connected to vital services,โ€ said Ryan Vincent, Executive Director of Kansas Housing.

McKee Administration, RIHousing Support Creation of 431 Critically-Needed Affordable Homes

RIHousingโ€™s Board of Commissioners approved investments at its April Board meeting that will create 431 affordable homes, significantly improve the neighborhoods where they are located, and support over 1,240 jobs. Funding awards were approved for five developments located in East Greenwich, Lincoln, Middletown and Providence. โ€œAddressing the housing crisis in Rhode Island is one of the top priorities of the McKee-Matos Administration and these awards represent a significant investment in addressing the housing needs of Rhode Islanders,โ€ said Governor Dan McKee.

CHFA Invests $1.2 Million to Support College Scholarships

Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) is proud to announce its new Building the Future Scholarship Fund, which dedicates $1.2 million to support college education across Colorado. The multiphase, multiyear fund will provide up to 260 scholarships to be awarded over 10-year periods. CHFA created the fund to strengthen Coloradoโ€™s future workforce, advance equity in education access, and promote leadership in affordable housing and economic development.

HUD Awards Maryland Over $6.9 Million in Housing Assistance for Marylanders with Disabilities

Over $6.9 million in Section 811 project rental assistance has been awarded to the state of Maryland through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)'s Project Rental Assistance Program Grant. The 811 funds were awarded to fifteen other states in the country, totaling $54.7 million in affordable rental assistance nationwide.ย This funding will allow the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development to grow and expand the state's affordable rental housing opportunities for residents with disabilities living on low income.
