New Hampshire Housing Names 2020 Top Housing Lenders
Lenders and loan originators were recently recognized by New Hampshire Housing for helping 1,400 homebuyers find affordable homes and loans last year. The awards were given to the lending institutions and loan originators who assisted the most homebuyers through New Hampshire Housing programs in 2020. “Our top lenders and loan originators are vital to supporting affordable housing opportunities for all New Hampshire households,” noted Ignatius MacLellan, managing director of New Hampshire Housing Finance Authority’s Homeownership Division.
Paint – South Dakota Campaign Seeking Volunteers
"Paint – South Dakota” is underway and South Dakota Housing Development Authority (SDHDA) is seeking volunteer painters and nominations for houses in need of painting. To get involved, an individual or group of people nominate someone in their community whose home is in need of a fresh coat of exterior paint and then pick a Saturday in June to pick up paint brushes and help residents in their communities. The nominated home must be a single family, owner-occupied residence whose owner is physically or financially unable to paint their home themselves.
MassHousing Closes on $1.8 Million in Affordable and Workforce Housing Financing for the Development of the Elias Brookings Apartments in Springfield
MassHousing has closed on $1.8 million in affordable and workforce housing financing to the non-profit Home City Development, Inc., to transform the former Elias Brookings School in Springfield into 42 new apartments for households with a range of incomes. The three-story, masonry, concrete and steel building was used as a public school from 1926 until it was damaged by the 2011 tornado in Springfield.
Governor Laura Kelly Announces Statewide Rental, Utility Assistance for Kansans Affected by COVID-19
Governor Laura Kelly and Kansas Housing Resources Corporation (KHRC) this week announced the launch of the Kansas Emergency Rental Assistance (KERA) program to provide rent, utility, and internet assistance to individuals and families financially impacted by COVID-19. “Keeping Kansans in their homes and businesses – and ensuring they have access to the high-speed internet needed for telehealth, telework, and virtual school – has been a top priority for my administration since day one,” Governor Kelly said. “This program will be critical in ensuring Kansans can stay secure in their homes, stay warm, and maintain access to the internet.”
Governor Carney and DSHA Announce Reopening of COVID-19 Rental Assistance Program
Joined by U.S. Sen. Tom Carper, Governor John Carney and Delaware State Housing Authority (DSHA) Director Anas Ben Addi on Friday announced the reopening of the Delaware Housing Assistance Program (DEHAP), which provides financial assistance for renters affected by COVID-19. Landlords and tenants can apply for assistance beginning Monday, March 22, 2021 using DSHA’s application portal. DEHAP provides financial assistance to renters experiencing unemployment or other financial hardship due to the COVID-19 health crisis.
Supportive Housing Webinar to Feature Developer Insights, Integrated Housing Models
The event, the second of four, is made possible through a first-of-its-kind partnership by the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority and Corporation for Supportive Housing (CSH) to expand the supply of affordable, supportive housing in Wisconsin. Speakers include Ana Simpson, director of community and economic development with WHEDA, Dave Porterfield, senior real estate adviser with Movin’ Out, Amy Stetzel, Upper Midwest director with CSH and Jane Bilger, a senior program manager with CSH.
HousingIowa Awards Recognize Innovative Housing Initiatives and Leaders
The Iowa Finance Authority recently recognized outstanding housing initiatives and leaders through the 13th annual HousingIowa Awards. The HousingIowa Awards recognize outstanding programs, projects and professionals for leadership and innovation in advancing housing opportunities for Iowans. The award categories include: Innovation, Multifamily, Single-Family, Special Needs Development, Legislative Friend of Housing and the Kay Anderson Friend of Housing Award. HousingIowa Award nominations are accepted each year and an independent panel of judges determines the statewide award winners.
Mainehousing Invests $30.4 Million, Generating $74 Million in Funds, to Build Affordable Housing
For the first time, MaineHousing has awarded Maine’s new state-level affordable housing tax credits to support the construction of affordable housing. MaineHousing allocated Maine Affordable Housing Tax Credits and federal Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) to build or renovate nine affordable housing developments in Maine. The combined $26.2 million in tax credits will generate over $69.8 million in equity from private investors. With an additional $4.2 million in subsidy from MaineHousing, approximately $74 million of funding will create or preserve 430 housing units.
Iowa Finance Authority Names 2020 Top Mortgage Lenders
The Iowa Finance Authority (IFA) recently announced its 2020 top mortgage lenders. The awards were given to the lending institutions and loan originators who assisted the most homebuyers through IFA programs in 2020. The Iowa Finance Authority offers mortgage and down payment assistance programs through a network of more than 400 lenders throughout the state. These partnerships allow Iowans both the convenience of working with their local lender and access to down payment assistance programs available exclusively through IFA Participating Lenders.
