Campaigns, Coalitions, and Task Forces

NCSHA is a proud member of the following organizations that support affordable housing through education, policy development, and advocacy.

ACTION Campaign

A national grassroots coalition of more than 2,400 national, state, and local organizations, the Affordable Rental Housing ACTION (A Call to Invest in Our Neighborhoods) Campaign focuses on ensuring that low-income working families throughout the nation have access to decent, safe, and affordable rental housing. The mission of the ACTION Campaign is to protect, strengthen, and expand the Housing Credit and preserve multifamily Housing Bonds. In addition to co-chairing the ACTION Steering Committee, NCSHA leads the ACTION Legislative Committee.

Public Finance Network

Formed in 1988, the Public Finance Network is a coalition of organizations united to preserve state and local government use of tax-exempt bonds. Members include NCSHA, the Government Finance Officers Association, National Governors Association, the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association, and the National Association of Bond Lawyers. The Network represents the wide array of local and state government financing and infrastructure activities, including affordable housing.

HOME Coalition

NCSHA convenes the HOME Coalition, an active association that works to increase awareness of the HOME Investment Partnerships program, emphasize its importance to the development and provision of affordable housing, and advocate for HOME funding. The coalition is composed of nearly 40 national organizations, ranging from housing developers, to advocates, and state and local government associations.

Campaign for Housing & Community Development Funding

The Campaign for Housing and Community Development Funding (CHCDF) is an education, strategy, and action hub for national organizations dedicated to adequate federal housing and community development funding for lower-income families and communities. In addition to being a member, NCSHA serves on the steering committee to develop and advance CHCDFโ€™s advocacy agenda.

Preservation Working Group

Led by the National Housing Trust and as a national coalition of housing owners, developers, tenant associations, and state and local housing agencies, the Preservation Working Group is dedicated to the safeguarding and security of multifamily housing for low-income families.

The Black Homeownership Collaborative

The Black Homeownership Collaborative is a coalition of more than 100 organizations and individuals, including NCSHA, committed to creating 3 million net new Black homeowners by 2030 through an ambitious 7-point plan and 3by30 initiative. The Collaborative is led by a steering committee of executives from the Mortgage Bankers Association, NAACP, National Association of REALTORSยฎ, National Association of Real Estate Brokers, National Fair Housing Alliance, National Housing Conference, National Urban League, and Urban Institute.

Underserved Mortgage Markets Coalition

The Underserved Mortgage Markets Coalition (UMMC) consists of 41 leading U.S. affordable housing organizations seeking to hold Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (the Enterprises) accountable to their founding purpose: to bring housing finance opportunities to American families not traditionally served by the private market. The Lincoln Institute of Land Policy is the convening facilitator of the UMMC.
