LHC and CHDO Partner Break Ground on the St. Mary Hope Apartments

The Louisiana Housing Corporation (LHC) joined, Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) partner, St. Mary Vermillion Community Action Agency to break ground on the initial stages of building the St. Mary Hope Apartments which will provide affordable rental housing in St. Mary Parish.

Senators, House Members Introduce Legislation to Clarify Tax Status of GSEs, Optimize Their Investment in Rural Areas

Today, Senators Jerry Moran (R-KS), Mark Warner (D-VA), and Todd Young (R-IN) and Representatives Darin LaHood (R-IL) and Dan Kildee (D-MI) introduced bipartisan, bicameral legislation clarifying that the Government Sponsored Enterprises Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are not tax-exempt controlled entities and thus may invest in multi-investor Housing Credit funds without negatively impacting the tax benefits available to all investors in those funds. Multi-investor Housing Credit funds are particularly critical for investments in smaller, rural areas; thus, GSE investment in those funds is consistent with Fannie’s and Freddie’s Duty to Serve.

Governor Abbott Announces Over $95 Million In Housing Tax Credits

Governor Greg Abbott today announced that the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) has awarded over $95 million in housing tax credits to help finance the development or rehabilitation of more than 60 rental properties, offering reduced rents and increased housing options for Texans throughout the state.
