To help remove another barrier to affordable homeownership, South Dakota Housing’s Board of Commissioners approved a new initiative to increase access to manufactured housing across the state.

More South Dakotans may now qualify to purchase a Governor's House following action by the South Dakota Housing Board of Commissioners. Effective June 15, 2026, household income eligibility for the Governor's House program increased to 100% of the State Median Income, currently $103,400.
Flood, Goodlander Introduce Legislation to Study and Temporarily Suspend BABA for HUD Affordable Housing Programs
House Housing and Insurance Subcommittee Chairman Mike Flood (R-NE) and Representative Maggie Goodlander (D-NH) today introduced the Build Housing Affordably Act (BABA), which would require HUD to conduct a comprehensive study of the impacts of Build America, Buy America requirements on affordable housing development assisted with HUD programs and issue a report to Congress on the findings of the study. The bill suspends application of BABA to HUD programs until 60 days after HUD submits the report. Upon BABA’s reinstatement, the bill also sets a 90-day deadline for HUD to approve or deny BABA waiver requests submitted to the Department.

Construction to Restore Affordable Housing Begins at Historic Warren Hall Building

On May 28, 2026, the District of Columbia Housing Finance Agency (DCHFA) issued $23.8 million in tax exempt bonds, underwrote $14.9 million in federal funding, and leveraged $3.0 million in DC Low Income Housing Tax Credit equity for the construction of 950 Eastern Ave in Ward 7’s Burrville neighborhood.
CHFA Closes First Loan Under New Affordable Homeownership Program
Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) announced today the closing of a $5.7 million construction loan to support Osina Development’s Wolff Street Flats, a new, affordable for-sale housing development in Denver’s West Colfax neighborhood. Upon completion, the development will offer 23 affordable condominium homes to qualified homebuyers.
Homeowner Assistance Fund Program Accepting Final Applications Until June 15
Homeowners who have struggled to make mortgage payments due to the COVID-19 pandemic may still be eligible for assistance, but June 15 is the last chance to apply. Because program funds are running low, Oregon Housing and Community Services (OHCS) will close the Homeowner Assistance Fund (HAF) program to new applications at 8 a.m. on June 15.
