MassHousing Honors Residential Mortgage Services and Bostonโ€™s Department of Neighborhood Development for Their Commitment to Affordable Homeownership

MassHousing recognized RMS for its success originating MassHousing home mortgage loans in the Commonwealthโ€™s 26 Gateway Cities. In fiscal year 2018, RMS helped more Massachusetts homebuyers purchase a home in a Gateway City than any other partner in MassHousingโ€™s lender network. In FY18, RMS originated 156 home loans in the Gateway Cities, for $31.1 million in total financing. Overall in FY18, RMS originated 316 MassHousing loans in Massachusetts, for $67 million in mortgage financing.

FHFA Report Finds Progress in Developing Common MBS and Securitization Platform

The Government-Sponsored Enterprises (GSEs) Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac remain on track to begin issuing common mortgage-backed securities (MBS) on a common trading platform on June 3, according to a newย reportย from the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA).

Treasury and IRS Plan Guidance on Income Averaging, Other Housing Credit- and Bond-Related Issues

On November 8, the Treasury Department (Treasury) and Internal Revenue Service (IRS)ย issued their 2018โ€“2019 Priority Guidance Plan (PGP)ย which lists guidance projects on which Treasury and IRS will focus during the 12-month period from July 1, 2018, to June 30, 2019.

PHFA Recognizes Stateโ€™s Housing Counselors for Helping Consumers

PHFA recognized the work of the stateโ€™s private sector housing counselors today during an event at the Harrisburg Hilton. These counselors help PHFA achieve its housing mission by assisting state residents with questions about homeownership, home foreclosure, budgeting and their personal credit score so they can make better informed housing decisions. Most recently, some counseling agencies have also started providing money management education, as well.

Kim Herman Inducted into National Affordable Housing Hall of Fame

The recognition by Affordable Housing Finance magazine will be presented today in a ceremony at the Affordable Housing Developers Summit in Chicago, Ill.
