House of Representatives Passes Affordable Housing Package

An overwhelming bipartisan majority of the U.S. House of Representatives Monday evening voted to pass comprehensive affordable housing legislation that includes more than 20 different housing-related bills. The legislation, titled the Housing for the 21st Century Act (H.R. 6644), is the first substantial bipartisan housing bill to clear the House in more than a decade. It is the product of months of negotiations between Financial Services Committee Chair French Hill (R-AR), Ranking Member Maxine Waters (D-CA), Housing Subcommittee Chair Mike Flood (R-NE), and Ranking Member Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO).
