Vermont’s COVID Emergency Mortgage Assistance Program Re-Opens Next Week

The Vermont program that helps homeowners who have fallen behind on their mortgage or property taxes during the COVID-19 pandemic will re-open on Monday, May 3, 2021.ย  The Mortgage Assistance Program, will provide grants covering up to 12 months of past due mortgage payments and property taxes for eligible homeowners. Funded through the federal CARES Act, the program operated first in July through December 2020, providing 636 Vermont households with grants averaging $6,000. With average monthly mortgage payments of $1,200, most of these households owed three months or more of payments and the majority were in a forbearance.

NJHMFA Celebrates Middlesworth Road Supportive Housing Groundbreaking

New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency (NJHMFA), along with local officials and stakeholders, joined today in celebrating the groundbreaking ceremony for Middlesworth Road Supportive Housing, serving persons with developmental disabilities. ADTI Housing Corp., the housing subsidiary of Alternatives, Inc. completed renovations on the single-family home located in Hillsborough Township, Somerset County, New Jersey to best serve individuals with developmental disabilities.

Governor Cuomo Announces $98 Million to Fund Over 1,000 Affordable Homes Across New York

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced more than $98 million has been awarded to create 1,054 affordable homes in 20 separate developments across New York. This funding will help revitalize communities, fight homelessness, and expand access to energy-efficient, affordable housing opportunities. "As we rebuild from the pandemic, these awards are further proof of our unwavering commitment to ensuring all New Yorkers have a safe, stable and affordable place to live,"ย Governor Cuomo said.ย 

Kansas Housing Awards Nearly $134,000 in Poverty Reduction Services, Resources

Eight nonprofit community organizations across the state received a combined $133,968 to help low-income Kansans achieve stability and access economic opportunities. The awards, provided through federal Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) discretionary funding, will support initiatives ranging from contactless grocery delivery in a food desert in Leavenworth County, to professional development services for survivors of domestic violence in Sedgwick County, to housing and employment resources for rural youth aging out of foster care.

WHEDA Awards $35 Million in Federal and State Housing Tax Credits for 2021

The award of $35.1 million in federal and state housing tax credits will advance housing opportunity and economic recovery in Wisconsin through creation of 2,200 affordable housing units in the months ahead, Gov. Tony Evers announced Tuesday. The state and federal housing tax credit awards by the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority support 33 housing projects in 19 communities statewide and cap a highly competitive process that drew requests totaling more than $57 million.

SDHDA Seeking Applicants for the 2021 Emergency Solutions Grants Program

South Dakota Housing Development Authority (SDHDA) is seeking applicants for the Emergency Solutions Grants Program. The Emergency Solutions Grants Program (ESG) is a federal block grant authorized by the McKinney Vento Homelessness Assistance Act and is funded by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development. The ESG program provides financing for short-term and medium-term rental assistance and services to stabilize and rapidly re-house individuals and households who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
