Ending of Federal Eviction Moratorium Does Not Affect Minnesotans
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) eviction moratorium is currently slated to end on Saturday, July 31, potentially affecting thousands of American renters behind on their rent โ but not Minnesota renters. With legislative action last month, Minnesota has broader and longer renter protections than the ending CDC eviction moratorium.
House Approves FY 2022 Omnibus Bill with Funding for HUD and Rural Housing Programs
The U.S. House of Representatives yesterday passed an omnibus appropriations bill, H.R. 4502, that combines seven fiscal year (FY) 2022 appropriations billsย and includes funding for HUD and U.S. Department of Agriculture rural housing programs. The bill passed on a party-line vote of 219-208, with all Democrats present voting aye and all Republicans present voting against.
Governor Cuomo Announces $270 Million in Financing for 728 Affordable, Supportive, Sustainable Homes Across New York State
Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced $270 million in financing for six affordable housing developments that will build or preserve 728 affordable, supportive, sustainable homes for New Yorkers. The awards will leverage an additional $93 million to create an overall investment of more than $360 million that will spur local economic development and advance New York's commitment to healthy, energy-efficient housing opportunities that reduce the State's impact on the environment.

Housing Development and Assistance Program Funds Available

Tiena Johnson Hall is California Housing Finance Agencyโs New Executive Director
The California Housing Finance Agency (CalHFA) will get a new Executive Director as Tiena Johnson Hall was appointed by Governor Gavin Newsom on Monday. Johnson Hall, who has been a member of CalHFAโs Board of Directors since November 2014, has served as a Senior Vice President and Manager of Community Development Finance for BBVA Compass Bancshares inc. since October 2014. Prior to that, she has held various housing positions in both the private and public sectors.
Governor Hogan Announces Nearly $30 Million in Awards for Broadband Infrastructure
Governor Larry Hogan today announced awards to expand broadband internet access to more than 12,000 households in 18 counties. Administered by the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Developmentโs Office of Statewide Broadband (OSB), $29,472,131 in grant funding will support network infrastructure projects by local internet service providers that will provide connectivity to unserved or underserved communities in Maryland.
