Senators Leahy, Collins Introduce Legislation to Facilitate Use of Fiscal Recovery Funds with Housing Credit

On May 11, 2022, Senators Patrick Leahy (D-VT) and Susan Collins (R-ME) introduced the LIHTC Financing Enabling Long-term Investment in Neighborhood Excellence (LIFELINE) Act, which would allow state, local, territorial, and tribal governments to use Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds to make long-term loans to Housing Credit developments. The bill is companion legislation to the House version of the LIFELINE Act (H.R. 7078), introduced by Representatives Alma Adams (D-NC) and David Rouzer (R-NC) in March.

WHEDA Awards $23.3 Million in Federal and State Housing Tax Credits for 2022

Today the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development (WHEDA) announced the award of $23.3 million in federal and state housing tax credits that will advance greater housing access and opportunity in Wisconsin through the creation of over 1,400 housing units. This yearโ€™s housing tax credits awards support 23 housing projects in 20 communities statewide and cap a highly competitive process that drew requests totaling more than $49 million.

Rental Assistance Program to Close to New Applications

RIHousing announced today that the federally-funded RentReliefRI program will close to new applications on June 1, 2022.
