Boatman Patterson Re-Appointed as California Housing Finance Agency Executive Director
Tia Boatman Patterson was re-appointed as Executive Director of the California Housing Finance Agency by Governor Gavin Newsom on Tuesday. The position requires state Senate confirmation. Boatman Patterson was originally appointed to the post by Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. in 2014, after she served on CalHFA’s Board of Directors, and the Agency has flourished during her time at the helm.
OHFA Trustees Approve HOME Contracts to Bring Single Family Houses to Oklahoma Communities
Six Oklahoma non-profit housing organizations plan to utilize funding approved by Oklahoma Housing Finance Agency’s Board of Trustees to build or rehabilitate houses for low income residents living in communities across the state. Each organization also received an operating assistance grant. Additionally, Community Action Agency of Oklahoma City and Oklahoma/Canadian Counties, Inc. received a $200,000 grant that will provide assistance to 15 homebuyers across Oklahoma and Canadian Counties.
Denver Maw Named CHFA Finance Director
Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) is pleased to announce Denver Maw has been named as the organization’s finance director. Maw joined CHFA in 2013 and most recently served as finance manager, overseeing CHFA’s debt issuance and administration. “I look forward to collaborating with CHFA’s partners, customers, and our internal teams to meet the needs of affordable housing and community development finance in Colorado. CHFA is an excellent organization to be a part of and I’m honored to serve in this new capacity,” said Maw.
WHEDA Awards National Housing Trust Funds
Three projects that will provide housing to extremely low-income elderly and disabled residents have been awarded a total of $1.9 million in National Housing Trust Fund financing by the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority. The projects, in Ashwaubenon, Bristol and Milwaukee, previously received highly competitive federal 9% or state 4% housing tax credits administered by WHEDA.
WHEDA Welcomes Applications for Rural Affordable Workforce Housing Initiative
The Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority is now welcoming applications for the rural affordable workforce housing pilot. South End Mixed-Income Housing Community Will Undergo Major Renovation and the Preservation of Affordability with $30.3 million in MassHousing Financing
MassHousing has provided a total of $30.3 million in affordable housing financing to the Fenway Community Development Corporation for the refinancing, major renovation, and preservation of affordability for mixed-income households at the 97-unit Newcastle Saranac in Boston’s South End. Fenway CDC – in partnership with the Schochet Companies – acquired Newcastle Saranac through Chapter 40T, after the MassHousing Section 13A mortgage expired in March 2018 and the former owner intended to sell the property, putting the property’s 97 affordable units at risk of converting to market-rate rents.
MassHousing Closes on $9.5 Million in Financing for New Affordable Housing for Lower-Income Senior Citizens in Taunton
MassHousing has closed on $9.5 million in affordable housing financing to the non-profit Affordable Housing and Services Collaborative, Inc. and Taunton Revitalization, Inc., to support the construction of a new 40-unit housing community for lower-income senior citizens at the former Walker School in Taunton. The Walker School will involve the redevelopment of the vacant, former school into 40 new one-bedroom apartments. The school building will contain 16 apartments and the development team will build an addition containing 24 apartments.
Hogan Administration Announces $2.3 Million in First Round of Maryland Eviction Prevention Partnership Grants
Governor Larry Hogan today announced eight counties will receive more than $2.3 million in the first round of Maryland Eviction Prevention Partnership grants. "These awards reinforce my administration's strong support for ensuring Marylanders stay safe and secure in their homes during the COVID-19 pandemic," said Governor Hogan. "We are dedicated to assisting counties in their efforts to prevent eviction during these tough economic times."
COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance Program is Temporarily Suspended Due to Overwhelming Response
Due to overwhelming response, phase one of the Louisiana Emergency Rental Assistance Program (LERAP) application process has been temporarily suspended, but you can continue to sign up for notification of the opening of future phases. Administered and funded by the Louisiana Housing Corporation (LHC) in partnership with the State of Louisiana Office of Community Development (OCD), the LERAP is designed to help households financially impacted as a result of shutdowns, closures, layoffs, reduced work hours or unpaid leave due to the pandemic.
