CalHFA’s National Mortgage Settlement Housing Counseling Program Web Page Updated With 1st Quarter Results

Nearly 5,000 Californians have already received housing counseling

The California Housing Finance Agency is proud to announce that its National Mortgage Settlement (NMS) Housing Counseling Program partners have reported successful first quarter results, which can now be found on CalHFA’s website.

As reported by CalHFA’s three HUD-approved Intermediaries, who oversee over 80 HUD-approved housing counseling agencies, nearly 5,000 California residents have received free, confidential counseling sessions.

The three Intermediaries, Unidos, HomeFree USA and Balance further reported that 30% of the families to get counseling identified as Latino, 30% as white, 14% identified as Black and 14% as Asian American Pacific Islander.

CalHFA has allocated $50 million for the NMS Housing Counseling program to allow HUD-certified housing counselors to provide free sessions to Californians who are struggling with housing costs.
