Like It Forward: CHFA Donates $6,095 to The Piรฑon Project

Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) is donating $6,095 to The Piรฑon Project Family Resource Center, a nonprofit that strengthens children and families in southwest Colorado by providing comprehensive services such as education, mentoring, and other programs to increase family stability. The donation was the result of Like It Forward, CHFAโ€™s annual social media campaign to benefit Colorado nonprofits whose work aligns with CHFAโ€™s mission to invest in affordable housing and community development. Over the course of three weeks.

WHEDA Receives $5.4 Million Grant From HUD to Support Housing for Low-Income Homeless People with Disabilities

A $5.4 million Project Rental Assistance 811 grant to the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority will help fund the development of integrated, supportive rental housing for low-income homeless people with disabilities. The grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development will be paired with projects that have been awarded federal or state tax credits. In conjunction with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, this funding will connect tenants with various supportive services, such as health care, transportation, education and employment services.

WHEDA Extends Deadline for 2021 Competitive Housing Tax Credit Applications

The Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority is extending the deadline for 2021 competitive housing tax credit applications to provide additional flexibility and support for affordable housing developers navigating technology changes and COVID challenges. Deadlines for the federal 9% as well as state 4% and federal 4% programs have been extended to 5 p.m. Dec. 18, 2020. The credits are estimated at a total of $31 million for the upcoming year.

Murphy Administration Awards Federal Tax Credits To Incentivize Over Half Billion In Housing Development for Families, Seniors, Special Needs Residents

The Murphy Administration announced today it has awarded over $27 million in annual 9% federal Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC), opening the door to over 1,300 new apartments for families, seniors, and residents with special needs. The highly competitive tax credits are expected to generate over $254 million in private investment to create 21 developments valued at over $550 million to help build a stronger and fairer New Jersey. The 2020 LIHTC awardees represent exciting adaptive reuse and new development projects, including some in municipalities new to affordable housing opportunities.

Kansas Housing Awards Nearly $2 Million for Rural Housing Development

Nine Kansas communities will receive a combined total of almost $2 million to develop affordable housing for moderate-income families. The funding, made possible through the state of Kansasโ€™ย Moderate Income Housing (MIH) program, provides grants or loans to develop housing and support homeownership programs in cities or counties with populations of less than 60,000. Combined with the amount leveraged by each community to support the proposed initiatives, the awards represent a total investment of $6.2 million and a net gain of 76 affordable, quality homes for rural communities across the state.

Gov. Reynolds Announces Nearly $9 Million to Assist Low-Income Iowans in Preventing Eviction or Regaining Housing

Governor Reynolds today announced that a total of nearly $9 million in assistance is available to assist eligible low-income Iowans who are at imminent risk of eviction and individuals who have lost housing to quickly regain housing stability. The funding will also provide support for homeless shelter operations. The funds are made available through a supplemental appropriation to the Emergency Solutions Grant program through the federal CARES Act. โ€œThroughout the pandemic, our focus has always been on protecting the lives and livelihoods of Iowans,โ€ said Gov. Reynolds.

PHFA Recognizes the Exceptional Performance of PAโ€™s Top Housing Counselors

The Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency recognized the work of the stateโ€™s private sector housing counselors today during a virtual awards ceremony. These counselors help PHFA achieve its housing mission by assisting Pennsylvanians with questions about rental housing, homebuying, homeownership, home foreclosure, personal finance and budgeting so they can make better informed housing decisions. Traditionally the awards events is held in Harrisburg. But this yearโ€™s hour-long event was conducted entirely online so as to prevent any possible transmission of the coronavirus.

Vincent Elected to National Housing Association Board of Directors

The National Council of State Housing Agencies (NCSHA) held its Board of Directors election on October 26 during the associationโ€™s 2020 Annual Conference & Showcase, selecting Ryan Vincent, Kansas Housingโ€™s Executive Director, to serve on its national Board of Directors. Nominated from among and voted on by the executive directors of the member state housing finance agencies.

Iowa Finance Authority Awards More Than $7 Million to Local Housing Trust Funds to Advance Housing Priorities

The Iowa Finance Authority Board of Directors today announced the award of a total of more than $7 million in grants to 27 Local Housing Trust Funds to support local housing initiatives. The grant awards are made available through the Local Housing Trust Fund program and are expected to assist more than 2,100 families. โ€œThe Local Housing Trust Fund program is a highly successful funding mechanism that serves all 99 counties,ย  ensures local leaders can make critical housing projects a reality and leverages millions in other contributions,โ€ said Iowa Finance Authority Executive Director Debi Durham.

MassHousing Awards $391,164 for Affordable Sober Housing to Support Men, Women, Veterans and Women with Children in Boston, Framingham, Westfield, Springfield, Gardner, and Worcester

MassHousing has awarded a total of $391,164 in grant funding to help create or modernize 119 affordable sober housing units in Boston, Framingham, Westfield, Springfield, Gardner, and Worcester, while providing support services to women in recovery in Boston, Lynn, Leeds and Brockton. The grants come from the Center for Community Recovery Innovations, Inc. (CCRI), a nonprofit subsidiary corporation of MassHousing that helps nonprofits create or preserve affordable sober housing in Massachusetts for individuals in recovery.
