New Hampshire Housing Names Robert Dapice as Executive Director/CEO
After an extensive national search, the New Hampshire Housing Board of Directors has named Robert (Rob) Dapice as Executive Director/CEO of the organization, as of January 1, 2022. Dapice will succeed Dean Christon, a well-respected and nationally recognized affordable housing advocate and leader who will retire December 31, 2021 after 34 years of service with New Hampshire Housing.ย
MaineHousing Announces Old Orchard Beach Affordable Housing Ground Breaking for Milliken
The Szanton Company, a Portland-based housing developer, broke ground today on a major affordable housing development that will create an influx of new year-round housing for Old Orchard Beach residents who areย 55 or older. The Milliken Heights development, at 38 Portland Avenue will add a 55-unit apartment building that includes 42 units for households earning below 60 percent of the area median income. The other 13 units will be rented at market rent.
MassHousing Closes on $9 Million in Financing for the Development of Phase I of the Woodland Cove Affordable Rental Housing Community in Warehamโฏ
MassHousing has closed on $9 million in financing to Dakota Partners, Inc., to support the development of Phase I of the Woodland Cove affordable rental housing community in Wareham.ย Dakota Partners is developing the eight-acre site in three phases and Phase I will involve the construction of 63 new rental homes, including seven workforce housing units. Overall, the three-phase development will result in 150 new apartments at Woodland Cove.ย
State to Release Results of First Housing Study in Nearly Three Decades
A year-long comprehensiveย statewide housing needs assessmentโthe first of its kind undertaken in 27 yearsโis nearing completion, and Kansans are invited to learn about preliminary findings in a series of regional community meetings. The study identifies current housing needs and growth opportunities, including goals to guide the stateโs future housing development efforts. โFor too long, Kansas has operated without a strategic focus to guide our housing investment, hindering our stateโs economic development,โ said Ryan Vincent, Executive Director of Kansas Housing Resources Corporation.
MassHousing Closes on $35.3 Million in Financing for the Refinancing and Major Renovation of the 78-Unit Bancroft Dixwell Apartments in Bostonโฏ
MassHousing has closed on $35.3 million in affordable housing financing to Urban Edge for the refinancing and extensive renovation of the 78-unit Bancroft Dixwell Apartments in Roxbury and Jamaica Plain.โฏUrban Edge will utilize the funding to make substantial renovations to the properties, investing approximately $17 million in property upgrades. As part of the transaction, Urban Edge is merging the 45-unit Bancroft Apartments, and the 33-unit Dixwell Apartments,ย in Roxbury and Jamaica Plain, into one scattered-site entity.ย ย

Kansas Housing Announces New Senior Leaders
Erin Beckermanย joins KHRC as General Counsel, following 10 years in private practice at Riordan, Fincher & Beckerman P.A. in Topeka. Jason Fizellย directs theย Kansas Emergency Rental Assistance (KERA) program, a federally funded relief initiative to support Kansas tenants and landlords financially impacted by the COVID pandemic. Marilyn Stanleyย joined KHRC in March as the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) Program Manager and was promoted to direct the forthcomingย Kansas Homeowner Assistance Fund (KHAF).
Gov. Edwards, Mayor Hunter Announce $11.3 Million Housing Rehab Program for Lake Charles Residents
"This critical program will help some people impacted by these severe weather events repair their homes, but we are well aware that this is only a start. A large portion of CDBG funding recently allocated to the state of Louisiana for long-term recovery related to the 2020 disasters will go to address unmet housing needs,ย but the program announced today is a product of the state and city working together to jumpstart that process while we wait for these funds to become available,โ Gov. Edwards said.
MSHDA Board Approves Loans to Support Acquisition, Rehabilitation of Nearly 600 Rental Units as Gov. Whitmer Prioritizes Affordable Housing
Several multifamily housing developments received approval for loans from the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) Board during its November meeting. The loans will be used to acquire, redevelop and/or rehabilitate nearly 600 units, many of which are designated as affordable. Approvals for these loans comes shortly after Governor Whitmer announced her goal of having 75,000 new or rehabilitated housing units within the next five years as part of her MI New Economy plan.
