Maryland Mortgage Program Announces Launch of New Products

The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Developmentโ€™s Maryland Mortgage Program today announced the launch of two new loan products to provide higher levels of down payment and closing cost assistance. The Maryland Mortgage Program has been the stateโ€™s flagship homeownership program for over 40 years, and, for the past three years, has averaged over $1 billion in home loan reservations, helping more than 5,000 Marylanders get into their dream home each year.ย 

Senator Reed Joins Partners and Residents to Celebrate Affordable Apartments in Narragansett

U.S. Senator Jack Reed and R.I. Deputy Secretary of Commerce for Housing Josh Saal joined Preservation of Affordable Housing (POAH), RIHousing, community partners and residents to celebrate the completion of renovation work at Beachwinds Apartments in Narragansett on Monday, April 18. Beachwinds Apartments, just blocks from Narragansett Sound, is a 104-unit affordable housing community consisting of two senior developments โ€“ Beachwood Apartments and South Winds Apartments.

Gov. Wolf Announces Projects to Receive $3.7 Million for Community Revitalization

Governor Tom Wolf today announced six projects to be awarded $3.7 million for the construction or rehabilitation of mixed-used developments. The funding was raised through the sale of tax credits under the Mixed-Use Development Tax Credit Program, the proceeds of which are being used to fund the work of the Community Revitalization Fund Program. The goal of the Community Revitalization Fund Program is to stimulate high-impact neighborhood revitalization projects around the state.

Re-Fund The Police: Governor Hogan Announces Nearly $10 Million For Community Safety Works Awards

Governor Larry Hogan today announced nearly $10 million in grant awards through the new Community Safety Works program to more than 300 business districts and nonprofit organizations across Maryland, advancing a key plank of the governorโ€™sย Re-Fund The Police Initiative. Administered by the DHCD, Community Safety Works awards grants to encourage the implementation of crime prevention strategies through physical design improvements, operational activities, community vigilance, blight removal, and increased property maintenance.

Jessica Boling Selected as WHEDAโ€™s Assistant Deputy Executive Director

The Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA) has announced that Jessica Boling has been selected by Governor Tony Evers to serve as WHEDAโ€™s Assistant Deputy Executive Director. In this executive leadership role, Boling will utilize her community outreach, engagement, and advocacy experience to expand WHEDAโ€™s mission in underserved communities.

Pritzker Administration Launches $309 Million Assistance Program for Illinois Homeowners

Governor JB Pritzker and the Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA) announced today the opening of the Illinois Homeowner Assistance Fund (ILHAF) to help homeowners who have fallen behind on monthly mortgage payments and/or related housing expenses as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Struggling homeowners will be eligible for up to $30,000 in free assistance to pay past due mortgage payments, property taxes, property insurance, and delinquent homeowner and/or condo association fees.

MaineHousing Increases Down Payment Assistance for First Time Homebuyers

MaineHousing is pleased to announce it will increase its Advantage down payment assistance grant available to first time homebuyers from $3,500 to $5,000. The increase will add to the savings of hopeful first-time homebuyers to help overcome one of the biggest hurdlest to securing financing for a mortgage. While MaineHousing's base interest rate is increasing slightly going from 2.85 percent to 3.50 percent, the rate remains well below the current private market rate average of nearly 5 percent.ย 

Pennsylvania Homeowner Assistance Fund Program Dashboard Now Live

A new program dashboard has launched with detailed data about the Commonwealthโ€™s homeowner relief program for individuals who have been financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Pennsylvania Homeowner Assistance Fund, or PAHAF, administered by the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency (PHFA), has made a program dashboard publicly available to provide a real-time snapshot of both statewide and county-level totals and information on the program.

CHFA Appoints Board of Directors Officers

Colorado Housing and Finance Authority is pleased to announce the appointment of officers to its Board of Directors for the 2022-2023 term. CHFAโ€™s 11-member board serves as the governing body of the organization and establishes policies to further its mission of affordable housing and community development. CHFA has appointed Amber Hills as its board chair for a second term. CHFA also welcomes Nathan Peterson as its board chair pro tem, and Rick Garcia as its board secretary and treasurer.

State Announces Two Programs for Current or Future California Homeowners

The state of California today announced two programs to help Californians become homeowners or to remain homeowners โ€“ a program to provide forgivable loans to homebuyers for up to ten percent of the purchase price, and the approval of $67 million to fund projects that will support low- and very low-income households so that they can become or remain homeowners.
