New Age-Restricted Affordable Apartments Open in Seaside Heights
Cornerstone at Seaside Heights, a community of new apartments affordable to residents age 55 and older, celebrated its grand opening Wednesday joined by New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency (NJHMFA) executive staff, local officials and The Walters Group. The complex was built in part with Superstorm Sandy recovery funding and other financing from NJHMFA.
Ribbon Cutting Marks Opening of Historic New Jersey Bell Building Restoration in Newark
State and local officials, including New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency (NJHMFA) Executive Director Charles A. Richman, today celebrated a ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the opening of Walker House, which involved the transformation of the historic New Jersey Bell building into a mixed-use, mixed-income development. The restoration provides 264 apartments, including 53 which are affordable for families earning between 40 and 50 percent of the area median income as well as office and ground-floor retail space.
Applications for Federal Reverse Mortgage Assistance Program Ends This Month
The deadline to accept applications for Floridaโs federal Elderly Mortgage Assistance Program (ELMORE) is June 30, 2019. Under the leadership of Executive Director Trey Price, Florida Housing Finance Corporation (Florida Housing) has disbursed 100 percent of the funds for Floridaโs Hardest-Hit Fund (HHF) ahead of schedule. Originally scheduled to end in 2020, qualified homeowners who are seniors in Florida may continue to apply for assistance through ELMORE until June 30, 2019.
Iowa Finance Authority Awards Siouxland Habitat for Humanity $50,000 for the Construction of Home in Orange City
The Iowa Finance Authority Board of Directors recently awarded a $50,000 State Housing Trust Fund grant to Siouxland Habitat for Humanity to assist in the construction of a home in Orange City. The funding is made available through the State Housing Trust Fundโs Project-Based Housing program. The program provides financing for the development of affordable single-family and multifamily housing units.
Governor Wolf Announces New Markets Tax Credits for Low-Income, Rural Communities
Governor Tom Wolf today announced that Commonwealth Cornerstone Group, a nonprofit community development entity (CDE) created by the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency, has been awarded $55 million in New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) allocations. โNew Markets Tax Credits have a proven track record of attracting private sector investment to areas that need jobs and an economic spark,โ said Governor Wolf.
DCHFA Kicks-off Homeownership Month with the Lenderโs Fair and Homebuyer Incentives
June is National Homeownership Month and DCHFA is launching into the celebration on June 1st โby hosting the Lender โs Fair. Potential homebuyers will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with lenders and housing counselors to learn how to purchase a home in the District using DC Open Doors, HPAP and/or the Mortgage Credit Certificate Programs. The event takes place 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at DCHFA (815 Florida Avenue NW).
New Financing to Create, Preserve 773 Affordable Homes
The Washington State Housing Finance Commission has approved a total of $190 million in financing for the new construction or preservation of almost 800 affordable apartments across western Washington. โWeโre proud to be part of bridging the affordable housing gap, one apartment at a time, in rural, urban and suburban communities alike,โ said Karen Miller, chair of the Housing Finance Commission.
$55 Million in New Markets Tax Credits Awarded to Support Community Development
The Colorado Growth and Revitalization Fund (CGR Fund), administered by Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA), announced today it has been awarded $55 million in New Markets Tax Credits (NMTC). The U.S. Department of the Treasuryโs Community Development Financial Institutions Fund (CDFI Fund) awarded $3.5 billion in NMTC to 73 entities throughout the U.S., with the CGR Fund being the only awardee in Colorado.
New Affordable Apartments, Retail Complex Opens In Newark
A grand opening ceremony was held today for Boulevard West, a new mixed-use building providing 89 apartments affordable to working families along with retail space on a section of the vacant, former New Horizons public housing site. The event was attended by New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency (NJHMFA) executive staff, local officials, and representatives of The Michaels Organization.
