Governor Hogan Announces Nearly $63 Million for State Revitalization Program Awards
Governor Larry Hogan today announced new awardees for six state revitalization programs administered by the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD). Nearly $63 million was awarded to 214 projects and activities that promote community development and economic growth. All 23 counties and Baltimore City received awards through one or more of the six programs.

MassHousing Closes on $28.8 Million for the Refinancing and Extension of Affordability at the 145-Unit Council Tower for Senior Citizens in Roxbury
MassHousing has closed on $28.8 million in affordable housing financing to Council of Elders Housing Corporation for the refinancing and extension of affordability at the 145-unit Council Tower in Roxbury. As a result of the transaction, the Council Tower property, which houses lower-income senior citizens, will have affordability protections extended for 29 years. In addition to extending affordability, the 17-story housing community in Roxbury will undergo approximately $2 million in property improvements.
Governor Pritzker Announces Applications Now Open for Nearly $300 Million in Additional COVID-19 Emergency Assistance for Illinois Renters and Landlords
Building on Illinois’ COVID-19 support response for Illinois renters and landlords, the Illinois Housing Development Authority announced that applications are now open for the second round of the Illinois Rental Payment (ILRPP) program, which Governor Pritzker announced on October 27. The reopening of ILRPP will provide an additional $297 million to renters and landlords in an effort to prevent evictions and keep families safe and secure while they regain their financial footing.

Iowa Finance Authority Awards More Than $9 Million to Local Housing Trust Funds to Advance Housing Priorities
The Iowa Finance Authority Board of Directors today announced the award of a total of more than $9 million in grants to 27 Local Housing Trust Funds to support local housing initiatives. The grant awards are made available through the Local Housing Trust Fund program and are expected to assist more than 2,100 families. “The 2022 Local Housing Trust Fund awards represent the largest amount allocated through the program for local housing initiatives since the program’s inception,” said Iowa Finance Authority Executive Director Debi Durham.
Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development Announces $178.1 Million in Emergency Rental Assistance Funding Provided for Tenants and Landlords Affected By COVID-19 Pandemic
The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development today announced the Emergency Rental Assistance Program has approved $178.1 million to assist nearly 28,000 renter households affected by the COVID-19 pandemic as of October 31. This effort exceeds the U.S. Treasury spending goals for the program, and ensures that remaining program funds will stay in Maryland and continue to help tenants and landlords in need.
New Hampshire Housing Names Robert Dapice as Executive Director/CEO
After an extensive national search, the New Hampshire Housing Board of Directors has named Robert (Rob) Dapice as Executive Director/CEO of the organization, as of January 1, 2022. Dapice will succeed Dean Christon, a well-respected and nationally recognized affordable housing advocate and leader who will retire December 31, 2021 after 34 years of service with New Hampshire Housing.
MaineHousing Announces Old Orchard Beach Affordable Housing Ground Breaking for Milliken
The Szanton Company, a Portland-based housing developer, broke ground today on a major affordable housing development that will create an influx of new year-round housing for Old Orchard Beach residents who are 55 or older. The Milliken Heights development, at 38 Portland Avenue will add a 55-unit apartment building that includes 42 units for households earning below 60 percent of the area median income. The other 13 units will be rented at market rent.
