Homeless Continuum of Care Receives Competitive Grant

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) awarded a $2.1 million competitive grant to North Dakotaโ€™s Homeless Continuum of Care (CoC) to support the work of nonprofit providers, public housing authorities and government agencies that provide housing and support services to people experiencing homelessness.

MassHousing Awards $245,845 for Affordable Sober Housing to Support Men, Women, and Families in Five Communities

MassHousing has awarded a total of $245,845 in grant funding to create 22 new affordable sober housing units and preserve and additional 45 sober homes for men, women, and families in five communities.โ€ฏ The grants come from the Center for Community Recovery Innovations, Inc. (CCRI), a nonprofit subsidiary corporation of MassHousing that helps nonprofits create or preserve affordable sober housing in Massachusetts for individuals in recovery.โ€ฏโ€ฏย 

MassHousing Closes on $6.5 Million in Financing for the Development of Phase 3 of the Woodland Cove Affordable Rental Housing Community in Warehamโ€ฏ

MassHousing has closed on $6.5 million in financing to Dakota Partners, Inc., to support the continued development of the Woodland Cove housing community in Wareham.โ€ฏ The MassHousing financing will allow Dakota Partners to create 24 new affordable rental homes, including 18 workforce housing units, in the third and final phase of construction at Woodland Cove. Overall, Dakota Partners is creating 150 new mixed-income apartments at an eight-acre site in Wareham.ย 

MSHDAโ€™s Annual Public Housing Agency Plan Receives Approval for 2022-2023 Fiscal Year

The Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) Board has approved the annual fiscal year 2022-2023 Public Housing Agency (PHA) plan, which outlines the policies, operations and strategies for MSHDAโ€™s Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program. Approval for the annual PHA plan came during the Boardโ€™s March meeting. The HCV program helps approximately 28,000 homeless and extremely low-income individuals and families annually through rent subsidies in private homes or apartment buildings. Approval for the 2022-2023 fiscal year supports the five-year PHA plan adopted January 1, 2019.

California Mortgage Relief Program Releases Community Toolkit to Increase Awareness, Assist Partners and Applicants

The California Mortgage Relief Program, which launched at the end of 2021, released a new toolkit encouraging community organizations to help raise awareness about this new financial resource for homeowners who are behind on housing payments as a result of financial hardships stemming from the pandemic.

Kentucky Housing Corporation Honors Top Lenders

Kentucky Housing Corporation (KHC), the state housing finance agency, recognized its 2021 top lending partners today at the 17th Annual Recognition Awards held virtually via social media. Kentuckians who received a KHC home loan in 2021 worked with one of more than 90 partnering lender banks and mortgage companies in communities across the state. KHC offers loans for first-time and repeat home buyers with down payment assistance, and refinancing options for current homeowners.

Governor Hochul Announces Construction Underway On $39 Million Affordable and Supportive Housing Development as Part of $1.4 Billion Vital Brooklyn Initiative

Governor Hochul today announced the start of construction on a $39 million affordable and supportive housing development as part of the State's $1.4 billion Vital Brooklyn Initiative. Located in Bedford Stuyvesant, The Hart will include 57 sustainable and permanently affordable apartments with 38 supportive homes for chronically homeless seniors and families. In addition, The Hart will be home to a mental health outpatient program and a new primary care center to be operated by One Brooklyn Health.

New Hampshire Housing Announces Three Staff Promotions

Ben Feost was named Deputy Executive Director and Chief Legal Officer, having served most recently as Managing Director of New Hampshire Housingโ€™s Policy, Planning and Communications group. Frost manages external relations, legislative initiatives, communications, research, and strategic planning, and provides legal guidance on program implementation. He frequently presents on issues concerning affordable and workforce housing, land use law, and ethics.

North Dakota Housing Finance Agency (NDHFA) has been named one of the 2022 Best Mortgage Companies to Work for by National Mortgage News and the Best Companies Group. โ€œNorth Dakota Housing Finance Agency is honored to be recognized as one of the 2022 Best Mortgage Companies to Work for,โ€ said Dave Flohr, the agencyโ€™s executive director.
