Rental Assistance Program to Close to New Applications
RIHousing announced today that the federally-funded RentReliefRI program will close to new applications on June 1, 2022. Launched in March of last year, the program provides financial assistance to cover rent arrears, forward facing rent, utility arrears and certain other housing expenses. Funded via the U.S. Treasury, the federally-funded RentReliefRI program provides up to 18 months of financial assistance to eligible Rhode Island renters impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Registration is open for the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agencyโs 2022 Multifamily Affordable Housing Conference planned for June 8-10 at Kalahari Resorts in Mount Pocono. This annual conference offers educational sessions and plenary speakers aimed at advancing the professional development of people working in the stateโs affordable housing field. More than 500 attendees are expected.
Executive Director Tiena Johnson Hall Confirmed by the California State Senate
Johnson Hall has been leading the Agency since being appointed in August by Governor Gavin Newsom, and previously spent seven years as a member of CalHFAโs Board of Directors. This confirmation by the full Senate comes after the Senate Rules Committee voted unanimously to confirm at the end of her April 20thย hearing.
Hogan Administration Awards More Than $1.7 Million Through the Community Investment Tax Credit Program
The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development announced today the award recipients for the Community Investment Tax Credit Program. More than 100 nonprofit organizations, designated as 501(c)(3) organizations by the Internal Revenue Service, applied for these tax credits in order to attract private contributions to support projects or activities in communities located within a designated Priority Funding Area.
CHFA Awards $11.1 Million in Federal Tax Credits for Affordable Housing Development
The Connecticut Housing Finance Authority (CHFA) today announced awards of $11,138,589 in Federal 9% Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC). The tax credits are estimated to generate more than $103 million in equity from private investors for eight proposed affordable multifamily housing developments in Connecticut. Federal tax credit allocations are based on population, and CHFA generally receives about $10 million in credits each year.
Governor Hogan Announces $200 Million Affordable Housing Package to Address Rising Costs
Governor Larry Hogan today announced that more than $200 million in financing tools and new programs will be made available to create new affordable housing opportunities in the state. The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) will administer the funds to produce more than 6,000 additional units statewide amid rising construction costs and interest rates.
CalHFA Board Member Appointments
The California Housing Finance Agency is pleased to welcome Maria Cabildo to the CalHFA Board of Directors. Cabildo was appointed by Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon. Ms. Cabildo is the Director of Housing and Economic Opportunity at the California Community Foundation. She is responsible for the foundation's discretionary grantmaking activities, Program Related Investment (PRI) program, community engagement, and convening activities related to its housing and economic opportunity program areas.

Elected Officials, Development Partners and Community Members Celebrate Groundbreaking in South Providence
U.S. Senator Jack Reed, Governor Dan McKee, Lt. Governor Sabina Matos and Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza joined Omni Development Corporation, Wingate Companies, RIHousing, funding and community partners today for a ceremonial groundbreaking to celebrate the development of 79 new rental homes for families at Joseph Caffey Apartments and Jordan Caffey Townhomes in Providence.
