MassHousing Provides $205 Million in Financing to Refinance and Preserve Affordability at 10 Rental Housing Communities With More Than 900 Apartments For Lower-Income Senior Citizens and Families
MassHousing has closed on a $205 million package of affordable housing financing to Providence Realty Investment, LLC, for the refinancing and preservation of affordability at 10 Massachusetts housing communities. The financing package extends affordability protections on 931 total apartment homes for lower-income senior citizens and families.
Homeless Point Data Released for 2022
On January 25, 2022, 4,411 individuals were experiencing homelessness in Maine that particular day as identified in Maineโs annual Point in Time Survey. This number, which provides a one-day snapshot of Maineโs homeless population, suggests a sharp increase from 2021, but also reflects people being served by federally funded pandemic rent relief programs who were living in motels and hotels, a population not counted before because these programs didnโt previously exist.
State Designates $62 Million for Affordable Housing Development
Governor Kelly capped off the legislative session by signing two major bipartisan housing bills into law, representing a significant expansion of resources to support statewide housing development. The measures represent a combined $62 million in new housing resources, as well as initiatives to incentivize housing development.

MassHousing Provides $41.2 Million in Financing for New, 150-Unit Mixed-Income Housing Community for Families and Students in Sunderland
MassHousing has closed on $41.2 in affordable housing financing to Landmark Properties, Inc., for the newly constructed, 150-unit, North 116 Flats in Sunderland. Located three miles north of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and adjacent to a bus line that runs into downtown Amherst and UMass Amherst, North 116 Flats was developed under the stateโs comprehensive permit law, Chapter 40B. North 116 Flats offers 38 family apartments affordable to households earning at or below 80 percent of the Area Median Income (AMI).
Continuum of Care Accepting RFPs for Youth Homelessness Assistance
North Dakotaโs Homeless Continuum of Care (CoC) is accepting Request for Proposals for the Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program (YHDP). โUnderstanding the depth of youth homelessness is challenging in a rural state,โ said Dave Flohr, North Dakota Housing Finance Agency (NDHFA) executive director. "Through the YHDP, we are committed to ending youth homelessness in North Dakota.โ
WHEDA Awards $23.3 Million in Federal and State Housing Tax Credits for 2022
Today the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development (WHEDA) announced the award of $23.3 million in federal and state housing tax credits that will advance greater housing access and opportunity in Wisconsin through the creation of over 1,400 housing units. This yearโs housing tax credits awards support 23 housing projects in 20 communities statewide and cap a highly competitive process that drew requests totaling more than $49 million.
