Nearly 600 Housing Professionals to Convene in Louisville for Kentucky Affordable Housing Conference August 21-22

FRANKFORT, Kentucky — The Kentucky Affordable Housing Conference (KAHC) will kick off August 21 at Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville. Sponsored by Ohio Capital Corporation for Housing and PNC Bank, the conference will draw more than 600 housing professionals to address this year’s challenge: “Closing the Gap: Building Bridges to Innovative Housing Solutions.”

Hosted by Kentucky Housing Corporation (KHC), KAHC will feature a plenary and sessions devoted to closing the housing gap. KHC Deputy Executive Director of Housing Programs Wendy Smith and Dr. Patrick Bowen of Bowen National Research will open the conference Wednesday morning with a presentation on phase two of the Kentucky Housing Supply Gap Analysis, a five-year projection of the state’s housing needs based on population trends, jobs growth, housing starts, and other data. They will also lead sessions breaking down the data and best practices for addressing the housing gap.

The second plenary, scheduled for Thursday afternoon, will feature Daniel Parolek, urban designer, architect, and author of Missing Middle Housing: Thinking Big and Building Small to Respond to Today’s Housing Crisis.

Representatives from the KHC, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), West Virginia Coalition to End Homelessness, and other organizations will lead the more than 40 sessions. Session topics include multifamily development, factory-built houses, solar power, and the 2023 State of Housing in Black America report.

This year’s program will include trainings, workshops, sessions, and networking opportunities for partners in specialized housing, mortgage lending, single-family development, and multifamily development.
