KHC Joins Mayor Gorton, AU Associates for Grand Opening of 73-Unit Affordable Housing Development in Lexington

FRANKFORT, Kentucky — Kentucky Housing Corporation (KHC) joined Mayor Linda Gorton and other state and local officials today for the grand opening of Davis Park Station, a collaboration between AU Associates, Lexington Community Land Trust, and the City of Lexington.
The project is truly workforce housing — it will include a branch of Lexington’s Division of Workforce Training, offering classes and workshops for residents and the community to help them develop job-ready skills.
“We are proud to partner with the city and AU Associates on this innovative project,” said Bethany Ford, KHC’s project representative who worked on Davis Park Station, at today’s ribbon cutting. “We know that Kentucky needs more housing statewide, and in Fayette County, they need 14,000 rental units to meet their current population’s needs. AU Associates is beginning to address that gap with Davis Park Station and strengthening the surrounding community by working with the city to provide workforce development.”
KHC conducted the Kentucky Housing Supply Gap Analysis in 2024 and found that the state needed 206,207 housing units to meet the needs of its current population. Fayette County needs 22,549 units:
- 14,423 rental units, second only to Jefferson County.
- The majority of the need — 8,764 — falls to residents who have the lowest incomes.
- That number is expected to increase to 10,104 by 2029.
Davis Park Station, a continuation of Davis Park View, which was completed with 9% LIHTC in 2014, will add 73 affordable homes to the housing stock of Lexington with:
- 25 one-bedroom;
- 36 two-bedroom; and
- 12 three-bedroom units.
Although five units will be set aside for residents at the lowest end of the income spectrum, the majority will be open to those earning up to 60% AMI.
KHC invested $9 million in tax-exempt bonds and $874,782 in non-competitive housing credits for this project.
